I take that back. I'm currently watching the Federer match and it's virtually a full house.

Spaniards are night people, but why not show Caro's match last night, when the today late can show Fed's match?

Agree with TennisFan in that I'm hoping that Caroline can just make it through Madrid healthy at this point...a repeat of the Miami victory would be a special bonus

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

With regards to the TV coverage, the host tournament and broadcaster cough up the production costs. According to Stephanie Myles of the Montreal Gazette (remember reading her Expos coverage back in the 70's), Madrid gives $10.3 mill. to the players, Rome $6 mill. Now that may be a reason there's more coverage from Rome next week than Madrid this week.

But still facts are facts. The organisers have prioritised ATP over WTA. They're the ones who decide what's shown and what isn't. But it seems odd that they'll have, for example, a televised men's match on Stadium 3, then turn off the camera for the WTA match, then back on for the ATP. Would it really be impossible to leave the camera on, if only to stream the match? It was downright silly we couldn't see Kvitova's match.

If anyone's to blame, it's the organisers/Turiac, not the Tennis Channel or Eurosport.

I think it must be Tiriac because anyone who has a clue about womens tennis would not put the rematch of former no.1s that early. Also, I just don't understand why Azarenka's 2nd round match was televised but third one, against a better opponent, wasn't. What a mess

Again, that it's put on this early shows that they value the match because that means it's on TV.

Are you seriously asking to have a night match with no tv coverage instead?

Next is Rome where Caroline defends semifinal points.
A year ago she was winning titles, I wanted her to make a deep run at the FO. To show she's a contender at this major, not just the hardcourt majors.

That's something she can strive for this year. Have a big FO.

One frustrating thing about this ankle injury is that once again Caro's opportunity to improve upon her movement on the clay is limited. Back in 2010 her ankle was injured throughout the red clay season as well.

I don't know about that specific article but it has been mentioned in here before that Caro is playing Eastbourne.

I'd kind of prefer for her not to play that week rather rest and practice at Wimbledon itself.

As it stands now, Caro is probably scheduled for 21 tournaments this season. I'm not counting the YEC or Sofia and assuming she doesn't skip a premier 5 and she plays just Tokyo and Beijing in the fall (she could add an international tournament after Wimbledon or Moscow). I was kind of hoping for a bit lighter schedule this year.

Me too. This year is a little different than last year though. When she was making semis/finals on a regular basis she really was playing an awful lot of tennis. Unfortunately this year semi/final appearances are much rarer but that also means that she is playing less tennis so if she has a relatively packed schedule it doesn't necessarily mean that she is playing too much tennis. I suppose you also need to factor in mental fatigue. All of the travel and running around must take a toll and that's not even taking into account the mental aspect of the game.

I still believe that her game would benefit from two-three less tournaments but much more doubles play. She can still play lots of matches, which she says she needs, but doubles would force her to work on some of the weaker parts of her game.

I love Rome! What a beautiful city! Only thing is the allergies are already getting to me!

And the good news!

Re: Danish Delight - Caroline Wozniacki thread - vol 5

i really hope she goes far in rome (maybe the title itself!)...not just because it's played in my country () but because it's the only real test for the FO in the whole clay season

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.
