Re: Womens Tennis in General

Makarova survives as she breaks for 6-4 3rd set at 40-30, her 4th match point.

It's kind of annoying that the Wta matches for the day are pretty much over already.

Hmmm...Sharapova choking on her break points to get a double break lead in the 2nd set.

Well, Venus did make that second set somewhat respectable.

Re: Womens Tennis in General

Kuznetsova beats Navarro in 3 sets and will face the winner of Caro - Tsurenko. Sveta seems to have played her usual game: many Ws but even more UEs (40/53).

Considering the result of Wozniacki - Lisicki I quite like those stats.

In Caro's part of the draw, 3/8 players left are unseeds. In the other half of the draw it's only 1/8.

Re: Womens Tennis in General

It's rather annoying that Espn 2 showed/is showing Serena's match today rather when there was live tennis available. The Jovanovski/Date-Krumm match was very late in the 2nd set but they wouldn't switch to it.

Re: Womens Tennis in General

Jovanovski beats KDK to face Stephens in R16. She'll be in top 40 after AO and may finally be on the way to realize her potential. I consider Stephens a slight favorite, though.

Yah, but Kuznetsova's got a good amount of top spin though.

Re: Womens Tennis in General

Vika demolished Venina 6-1 6-1 and advanced to the quarters. This is yet another time that Caro failed to meet her.

I suspect Vika's match against Kuznetsova will be kind of along the lines of what happened with Pervak in Sydney: Caro loses a tight 3 set match while wins fairly comfortably in straight sets.
