Re: Womens Tennis in General

Way to choke away the match Vika. Vika broken for 5-5 3rd set at 15-40 from 0-40.

Vika had 30-30 2nd serve at 5-3 3rd set.

Sigh. Why don't don't the young players believe vs Serena?

Disgusted. Vika broken for 5-7 3rd set after having 2 game points. All hail the return of Chokearenka.

Re: Womens Tennis in General

It was to be expected, she looked intimidated of Serena in matches before..such a tense situation with so much on the line, it was just too much.

But at least she has given us a competitive final...

Yeah me too, it has been enough already, she really doesn't fit with the rest of the group age-wise anymore either.

+1 ... and I dont actually have anything against Serena Williams.

but now it'll be the endless stream of 'real #1' and 'we know who the best player is ..' ... 'Oh it's so embarrassing for WTA that Serena Williams can still win ... blah blah' ...

You could have saved us for all that bull, Victoria ... .. and I wouldn't even have minded being grouped with madmax and vikapower supporting Vika tonight ..

F O K it ...

Re: Womens Tennis in General

Well, we have to be realistic, Vika did better than anyone would have predicted... Mats Wilander predicted 6-2 6-2, nobody really thought she had a shot.

Her time will come, once Serena retires barely anyone will stand in her way. Sharapvoa's already her bitch and Kvitova has a lot of stepping up to do as well.

Maybe not, but had she served it out, it would have been a master class in match play. Vika was successful at changing her game during the match and alllllmost won it ... *sighs*

At least time is on our side, eventually Serena Williams will have to retire .. no-one lives forever ..

What kind of talk is that? If everytime a player is clearly the best she should retire Evert should have retired in 1974, Navratilova in 1982 and Graf in 1987. I for one am grateful for their careers, as I am for Serena's. And what's the problem of a thirty year old being the best player in the world? The others just have to raise their level, and Vika just did. She came within one or two points of winning.
