Just skimmed the draws. Poor JJ, she has the worst luck of all. First draws Kim at Wimbledon and now Serena at OG.

Well, JJ is 4-4 h2h with Serena, so she'll not be intimidated. But JJ hasn't been herself for a long time now, so an upset will be unlikely. But you're right, bad luck for her.

Looking at Jankovic's situation always scares me because it's a scary example of how far a former #1 can fall even without serious injury.

Well,a very long time. However, this might be her last Olympics,so maybe she'll tries harder and we'll have a surprise winner.

I know JJ struggled in 2009-2011 but she really seems to have fallen off even more this year.

So the ehmmm grass goat, who beat Caroline in Wimbledon, just lost 1st set to Cornet ..

Staying with a tennis theme, anyone knows of a consolidated score board? The official page is truly sheit.

Re: Womens Tennis in General

Paszek attended the ceremony knowing she had to play early the next day... how stupid can she possible be? She makes the Olympics in a last minute attempt, having to beg to get in only to bomb out like that. Idiotic..

This is the scoreboard I know of: http://live.itftennis.com/livescores.aspx?lang=EN

Radwanska the lesser sends Barthel packing. Minor upset.

Not really, Barthel plays like shit ever since Stuttgart and has lost all her matches on grass this year. Radwanska on the other hand is on quite the roll right now, she beat Sabine on grass as well.

Barthel is indeed playing really bad at the moment. But I was hoping she would do well in these Games. I'm really upset

On the other hand, I was expecting Ivanovic to lose against the young American and she pull it through

Re: Womens Tennis in General

Barthel is a classic example of being unable to cope with quick success. She was on such a high at Stuttgart where she played spectacular at times, even hanging in with Vika.

But it seemed to be too much for her to cope with, but the talent is there.

Sorana on the other hand is playing her usual match right now. Absolutely horrible 1st set, better in the 2nd and in the third she's cruising right now

Re: Womens Tennis in General

I just checked the rankings. Barthel is 38 and Radwanska is 44, I thought there was a bigger gap between them. I also wasn't aware of Radwanska's results in Carlsbad and Stanford, by her usual standards she did quite well. Anyone that defeats Melanie Oudin, particularly in America, is just fine by me.
