Re: Womens Tennis in General

Interesting. I was unaware that Azarenka has such a poor record at the U.S. Open, her best result was way back in 2007 when she made it to the fourth round. You have to assume that she will do better this year than she did last year when she had the misfortune of drawing Serena in the third round. Of course Petra had that dubious first round exit and Maria was bounced in the third round last year. Surely they will all do much better this year?

Saturday´s final will be certainly interesting. Unlike Kvitova who folded easily Sarita is a big fighter. I like this girl so I hope Sharapova wont win tomorrow. Sorry Sharafans

Figures .. nil out of two. Now I'm rooting for Errani, so Sharapova will be a shoe-in and Pova stans will be even more obnoxious, annoying and smug than before (how it can even be possible) ..

I hear synchronized swimming is a nice sport to follow ..

I would assume the adidas team that she trains with takes racket & strings seriously.
I dont think we'll know what went wrong until she's playing well again. Then Caroline will say something about this dropoff(which is more than the ranking. Its 15 semis in 19 events, 9 titles to losing early 11 out of 14. 3 semis out of 14 with no titles)
Something happened that cant be fixed with a couple of good practice sessions.

Indeed, if they have any say or way to influence it though is another matter.

One thing that has always puzzled me on the WTA, and its probably even more frustrating if your struggling with string/stick balance, and must have an overall effect on consistency and quality of play, is that they don't have an official ball for each surface on the tour. It's a bit like how the football world cup is often compromised with a new "super ball" at each tournament, that virtually none of the players are comfortable with, or have played with before.

Isn't that the kid that gets dead legged, bundled upside down, and tipped into the cat poo filled sandpit by all the unhip kids?
