Really?I'd have thought that Rolex had already dropped the first of those three...out of sheer embarrassment....Do they think that there's a market for horny 13-year-old boys who can afford Rolexes?

I don't care too much about the Australian Open with Caro being out of it. Tournaments just aren't that interesting once Caro's no longer in them.

At least this year's end of Caro's Oz Open is better than last year's.

Can actually relate to your sentiments there;however,I actually have an interest in most of these QF-ists.One of them is a fave of mine, and Clijsters WOULD have been a fave but I knew she'd break my heart by returning to motherhood...and,even though I don't like her so much,I wouldn't mind seeing Masha get one last Slam before she retired,either...though Kim would be the much better option in that case.....Vika??Well,it might be hard to swallow if Caro's often-underachieving bff beat her in the Slam race

I've been wondering why so much emphasis is placed on 1 match when judging/evaluating players. Why is you're only as good as your last match? What about looking at a group of matches?

On an unrelated note, I really dislike thc championship or bust mentality from the American sports media.

I'd expected Thursday to be only women's SFs and then the men's SFs on Friday. Turns out Federer/Nadal also play Thursday while Djokovic/Murray play Friday (I assume). Won't that make the Friday program a little thin with only one singles SF match? Might it be a way to avoid deciding which of the men's SFs deserve the best spot: the match with the #1/defending champion or the FedNad classic?

You mean on TF? If so I think it's just a matter of posters having some 'fun' when a player they don't like slips up. Objectivity has very little to do with it I think.

No, I wasn't specifically referring to tennisforum, just something I've seen a lot.

It's a lazy direction journalism has taken... "CNN Factor' Making a meal of "Now", every thing "Now" is breaking, "LIVE", stop press etc.

Basically they are loosing money and loud headlines and current exaggerated news is the de facto method of competition, especially among the rags that sell copies.

Sadly nobody reads, or rather Pays for High quality journalism anymore. Thats why You have PBS, and Europe has State owned Channels... Alas, even our State owned Channels are heading toward sensationalism these days.

One of the biggest sports icons in Denmark - besides Caro - is our national men's handball team. While Caro was doing great at AO, the handball team was doing lousy at Euro Cup, losing their first two matches despite being one of the favorites. But now that Caro's lost, the handball team has completed an amazing comeback and qualified for SF against overwhelming odds (besides Denmark winning their last matches, a number of other matches had to turn out just right also)! Cosmic balance?

Here's an example of the kind of luck the Danish handball team needed to qualify: Opponent is Macedonia, Denmark MUST win. The score is 32-32, 9 seconds remaning. Macedonia has the ball (Denmark in red).
