Exactly. There is no way Caro would think about golf in such a derogatory and uncalled for way that it's not a proper sport.

Also - anyone who says such a silly comment about golf not being a real sport should read what Annika did in golf and took fitness to a new level. She would have left the posters here for dead in terms of fitness and what she did in order to be #1 in her day. Yes there is Daly - but his fitness is one of the reasons he was never going to make it to the top like the very best players.

Add to this programmes like Apprentice. Hmm yeah right, Elite of British Entrepreneurs, who thinks Columbus is British, cannot multiply 60 with 7 (4,800 was his first attempt at a result ).

Recently in Dragon's Den, a website with 200 hits a day *yawns* claimed to have turnover of £60k a year and from there, someone said 'I'd like to make you an offer' .. Riiiiight. Nothing staged here.

Ah well, Topgear guys don't actually drive the cars for the footage. Wow, what a surprised. Staged too. Nothing to see. Move on. Its all real and listed under 'factual'.

Good luck, Caroline

I seriously miss Open university... Amazing what you could learn about Astro physics from a spell of insomnia... and I agree, but if (as I think it should) public broadcast TV is for education, information, and an antidote to commercial TV, i.e. important subjects that are never covered by commercial broadcast, then I'm even more outraged that my TV licence funds 5 figure salaries for (couldn't get a better gig) soap stars, and platform heels for Bernie.

Hides under table waiting for a lecture on how 'East Enders' is factual drama of similar quality to 'Casualty'.

My Gripe with golf is it's environmental impact. Bring back real golf i say... No need to irreversibly destroy the environment in areas that are over run with golf and seriously lacking in public wilderness in which you can perform any past time of your choice...

I wish they'd spend a little bit of the licence fee on digging out a particularly infamous episode of Top of the Pops from the late Nineties that I've read a fair amount about, but I don't recall watching at the time.

At a guess, it's probably a reference to the harbour.

Well that's another subject.

But it really has nothing to do with calling golf not a sport. And it is also an insult to the players nearly all of whom work very hard and are very fit in a way the average poster here has no idea.

Also - it's just not in Caro's nature to insult players in any sport who she knows work very hard.

As mentioned its just a new harbour haven being derived from Haefen, ior harbour), and if the weather is crappy all the more reason for a haven.

It could of course also be related to the settlers who were seeking a new settlement better fitting the beliefs.

There is also a Newhaven in the UK.

I agree, however, I do wish they would take up 'Real Golf'... It's a lot more challenging than modern golf and because its played in any open wild countryside, has far better uptake possibilities and doesn't nuke the environment or players with all the chemicals. There is no denying that golf is as much an 'elitist club' in general as it is a sport. Sad really that its only the controlled cartel sports that get the coverage.

Good luck to Brrr-ay---he might need it.I've heard that those Ross Ice Shelf lads can be tough characters

He won it in five. Arthurs got a penalty for trying to return the ball with his blowhole.

Yep,you gotta keep a close eye on those Ross Ice Shelf guys-----It's kinda sad that so many talented youth get caught up in,and corrupted by,the wild Ross Ice Shelf social scene...but I guess that's to be expected when they have a whole continent to themselves

Maybe it's me but I find it pretty annoying when they bring up beating Caro as part of someone's breakthrough.

How do they decide which results to bring up? They briefly showed Goerges' match on Tennis Channel and the only summer hard court result of hers they mentioned was the tiebreak against Serena in Toronto. No mention of the loss last week to Baltacha for instance or even the 1st set breadstick against Serena. I found it a bit confusing.
