This year Caro played 25 events, though at the beginning of the year she wasn't supposed to play as many. Caro is the type of player that once she starts losing (sometimes even because of injuries) she gets into more tournaments and wants to compete as much as she can. I remember that nightmare clay court season in 2013, where she was losing every match and then got a WC into Brussels, for example. Also, this year she wasn't supposed to play New Haven, but after losing 4 matches in a row (because of a leg injury) she got a WC to play. I would prefer her not to do that in 2016, but instead stick with her original schedule.
I would like to see Caro play a lighter schedule next year. I think her body isn't able to play that many tournaments anymore, and her knee injury gets worse the more she plays. So, for me the ideal schedule would be this:
Brisbane or Sydney.
(Birsbane would be better, because if she gets any injury (
) she would get more time to heal it, while in Sydney it would be tougher).
Dubai and Doha.
(she'll play both for sure. Next year Doha is a Premier 5 and she's a Dubai Duty Free ambassador).
IW and Miami.
Stuttgart, Madrid and Rome
(she needs to play a lot on clay to improve her movement there. But those slow ass courts in Paris are just too bad for her).
(again, better than Eastbourne in case of injuries. Though she always goes to Eastbourne).
Montreal, Olympics, Cincinnati
(no need to play NH tbh, as the Olympics will be on hard court
Wuhan and Beijing
(I doubt she'll only play these two, though).
if she qualifies (if not just finish your season).
Also, I have no idea when she needs to play Fed Cup in order to qualify to the Olympics.
About Internationals, I'm not sure when she should play them. I'm pretty sure that if she plays Brisbane or Sydney she'll lose in her first match, because she's always a slow starter and she'll be unseeded. But at least she would play a higher ranked player. She could play Auckland and probably win more matches, but winning against Glushko isn't that remarkble, is it?
Monterrey/KL is out of the question for me. She couldn't play this year in IW and Miami because of that. I still think these 19 tournaments + Fed Cup + 1/2 Internationals is a bit too much. But the only tournament from these I listed that I think she can skip is Stuttgart, but still she should play it.
