Sisters' American spring [Indian Wells and Key Biscaine thread]

Both sisters will play in MD of WTA Mandatory events in Indian Wells and Miami. Ula will use 2 of her last 3 Special Ranking entries. She will be left with only one. I hope she can play Nassau 100k+H challenger in the 2nd week of Indian Wells (if she doesn't reach the 2nd week of course )

Agnieszka has many points to defend in both tournaments. Luckily she'll have almost nothing big to defend after Miami (except Wimbledon 4R and San Diego final).

Good luck!

Re: Sisters' American spring [Indian Wells and Key Biscaine thread]

Why do they not play doubles together on the pro tour more often? I remember them doing so at a grand slam and getting to the Quarters I believe, but it's weird to me that they've never really done it more often.

TT Singles Current Ranking: #9 (CH Ranking: #1)
Titles(11): Zhuhai 2016, Singapore YEC 2015 Eastbourne 2015, Dubai 2015, Linz 2014, Cincinnati 2014, Wimbledon 2014, Marrakech 2014, Quebec City 2012, Cincinnati 2011
TT Doubles Current Ranking: #48 (CH Ranking: #8)
Titles(8): Zhuhai 2015, Stuttgart 2015, Sofia TOC 2014, Cincinnati 2014, Bucharest 2014, Tokyo 2012 (w/New_balls_please), Stanford 2012, Carlsbad 2011, Osaka 2011 (w/rvugt)

Their father told they would play some doubles together soon due to upcoming Olympic Games.

Re: Sisters' American spring [Indian Wells and Key Biscaine thread]

Aga and Ula are in the same section in IW

(9)Agnieszka Radwanska (POL) v Bye
Varvara Lepchenko (USA) v Iveta Benesova (CZE)
Anna Chakvetadze (RUS) v Qualifier
(24)Maria Kirilenko (RUS) v Bye

(31)Klara Zakopalova (CZE) v Bye
Urszula Radwanska (POL) v Bojana Jovanovski (SRB)
Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) v Qualifier
(8)Victoria Azarenka (BLR) v Bye

Caro in the QF. With this draw I think QF would be very good for Agnieszka.
And of course Ula vs Bojana

Re: Sisters' American spring [Indian Wells and Key Biscaine thread]

Hmm..lets see.

Both played really well. Bojana was forcing many errors in the first set. A lot of Ula talking to herself and dad and a lot of yelling. Only slammed racket twice. She made many drop shots and running shots. There was a foot fault called that she got sooooo angry at. Dad also got so mad and was asking questions.

Also when she was up like 5-2 in tie break, she missed the easiest shot..she was 5 inches from the net and the ball was really high and missed it in the net There was a time in the 3rd set when she was looking at dad making gestures like it was difficult to breathe. And a lot of smiles on errors.

Re: Sisters' American spring [Indian Wells and Key Biscaine thread]

Agniela match was good..Peng was good at the net and Peer was terrible on serve with so many dfs. Aga made many good plays running down balls and always returned on deuce points. She missed very few returns Dani had good ground strokes..but was not really good at net.

As usual Aga was the best on the court

Re: Sisters' American spring [Indian Wells and Key Biscaine thread]

U Radwanska (POL) d B Jovanovski (SRB) 36 64 76(6)

Definitely the match of the day, this being the 1st match, the day was a kinda anticlimax after this

I think Bojana played even better than the Malaysia match Just continuously
attacked both corners, and return was really sharp too. Very impressed.
So I of course rooted for the underdog Ula lol. And she fought hard.

Huge defensive effort returning those sharp drives. Screamed, gestured to the coach
that she just had to punt an easy overhead because of the sun, etc lol.

In the 3rd Bojana just couldn't make the 1st serves, and Ula kinda attacked Bojana's 2nd. And what's more, Ula just couldn't nail decisive pts to win it I think she had 2 mp in the 3rd 5-4 or something lol. But I wouldn't call it a choke, Bojana
was just THAT good (well Ula did miss some easy putaways )...Anyway Ula later on played more confidently, evidently read Bojana's shots (her shots WERE sharp but it was fairly predictable, methink, since it was almost always left to right, right to left lol)..
Had to sacrifice almost an entire 1st set of the following doubles to watch this match, although I was sitting on court 4 (doubles match) (have to thank the organizers for this, I could watch both matches simultaneously )
