I really thought Mashona was going to pull that one out. She was holding serve so much easier, and every service game was a struggle for Shenay, it seemed.
Then Mashona was up 5-1 in the tie-break, and serving for 6-1, which would have gave her FIVE match points. Fortunately for Shenay, Mashona collapsed, and won only one more point to make it 6-6.
Whew, that was a close one... Shenay you should have beaten her easier and not given everybody a heart attack, but anyway it's cause for celebration. Hopefully she'll play a top player in MD and we'll get to watch her on TV...
Several of my favs lost in the first round of the qualifying, including Bedanova, Irvin, Kulikovskaya, Poutchek, Sfar, Prakusya, Barabanshikova, and Bacheva! Good luck to Marie-Eve and Jennifer in the main draw.
