The injury will not deter the former No.1 from vying for her fourth Grand Slam singles title next week. She will face Romania's Ruxandra Dragomir-Ilie in the first round of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

"I still feel great about my chances," said the 2000 Australian Open champion. "This is not going to dampen my spirits much, and hopefully Sunday night, I'll be ready to go."

:worship: looks like she's still in good spirits:worship:

c'mon Lindsay Claim your fourth slam , you can do it:bounce:

lets win it, Lindsay :bounce:

dragomir might not be as easy for davenport as people think

she's given lindsay a very tough time before, and if lindsay isnt 100 percent............

anyway, she's doing the right thing in remaining positive :)

note the new haven and hilton head results

exactly, so if lindsay's isn't 100 percent...............

she was a very good player a nb of years ago, hence those 3 set matches. but i highly doubt she'll be able to trouble lindsay these days.

she was a former consistent top 20 player too :)

she's reached the fourth round of the AO open a couple of times in the late nineties, losing to hingis in '97 and davenport in '98.

Watched Dragomir-Ilie play doubles with Pratt against Raymond/Nav in Sydney. She struggled to keep the ball in the court, her serve was very weak and groundstrokes were powerless. Lindsay will have no problem.

Lindsay is really one of these players who can completely TRASH an opponent!
Justine, e.g. 'hardly ever' wins a match 0 and 1 but Lindsay!!!

Appelmans said it a few years ago. There was one player who she never wanted to face, because she was afraid she wouldn't win a single game: you guessed it: LD

Although Dragomir was a great player, I think this shall be an easy warm up for Lndsay

Remember when everyone was like "Els will give Lindsay problems at the US Open. Blah, blah, blah." She bitch slapped Els 6-1 6-0. Ruxy is one of my faves, but she's probably not going to get more than two games off of Lindsay.

It's good to see Lindsay positive. She probably figures she has nothing to lose and noone expects much. That's also when she works her magic...

Yes, lets keep positive for Lindsay. I think Dragomir is not a too bad a first round draw for Lindsay and I think she can beat her if she plays and I am sure by Sunday night she will be ready. It was a good thing to withdraw from AI - I just wish she had not played in the doubles with her having played the Hopman Cup, but she would not want to disappoint Corina, knowing lindsay.

lindsay
everything is going to be fine :)

actually their 1998 meeting ended 6-0 6-0
and there were also 2 more doublebagels that day

- Hingis def. Basuki 6-0 6-0
- Pierce def. Nagyova 6-0 6-0

3 doublebagels in the 4th round of a slam
and dragomir, nagyova, basuki were all top-30 at the time!
