Thanx for the link :)

*sigh* - Lindsay just can't catch a break. :(

Well I really hope that it's more precautionary than necessity so that she is able to play next week, but I really just want her to stay healthy even if that means missing the Australian Open. Best of luck to you Lindsay, please get well soon :)

Oh Geez!!!!

I don't know what this really means now? LD more hurt than she really is,
or not wanting to play mind games with Justine prior to that mega big
QF match coming up in Melbourne?

I love both players; but the "walkover" win for the newly buffed bronzed
JHH will just make her think LD is worried/injured and not up for the real
war in the QF's at Melbourne. This isn't the sort of ammo you want to give
JHH; she's grinning with glee at the news.

Lindsay aint playing any mind games. She's playing her last years on the WTA tour she only wants to be 100%. It is either (A) procautionary or (B) Something tweaked during practice thus not withdrawing sooner.

Tennis-Davenport quits Sydney International

SYDNEY, Jan 16 (Reuters) - A shoulder injury forced Lindsay Davenport to withdraw from her semi-final with world number one Justine Henin-Hardenne at the Sydney International on Friday.

Davenport strained a muscle in her right shoulder during her quarter-final win over Elena Dementieva on Thursday before aggravating the problem by playing doubles.

The American told a news conference that it was too painful for her to play against Belgian Henin-Hardenne but she was hopeful of recovering in time for the Australian Open in Melbourne which starts on Monday.

"There's a chance it will heal completely if I give it three or four days' rest," she said.

Davenport's withdrawal gave Henin-Hardenne a free ride into Saturday's final against either Amelie Mauresmo or Francesca Schiavone.

I had a feeling she wasn't going to play tongiht and that the injury was more serious than she was letting on. Why then would she not finish her doubles match and respond to treatment?

I'm a huge LD fan here too. By "mind games" I mean,
the mental edge over an opponent. Let's not pretend that
no one isn't trying to figure the level their opponents are
at in a match. Over weight, undone, raw, cooked, over
due, or dead.

To be honest I wish she had not played doubles at the Adidas seeing as how she played th eHopman Cup. Still, she did so lets hope she is fit enough for Melbourne. This is so disappointing:sad:

I've just come to the conclusion that withdrawing from the AI could be a blessing in disguise for Lindsay.

You see the night session tonight got washed out so Mauresmo and Schiavone will have to play two matches tomorrow...

Why is it a blessing in disguise?

Well Lindsay and Justine would have been the ones playing the two matches - and it was pretty much a result of playing 2 matches on the same day that caused Lindsay's muscles to act up.

So the rest should be able to help her instead of the possibility of 2 matches which would prolong the injury.
