It's hard to see Venus dropping a set. Kim would have been very tough on this surface. But injured? I don't see Kim making the semis. And Venus and justine played here last year. Wasn't close.
Venus might have only jsut got back on the tour, but with a tourney victory already and her head-to-heads with these players, its a cakewalk.

Yes but they all match up badly vs Venus. A healthy Kim would have been a real problem. IMHO, the most difficult opponent for Venus. AND she's on Venus' side of the draw, so if Kim is a last minute withdrawal, Venus benefits.
Besides Justine, there's no one in this draw who uses a lot of spins and slices, AND there's no one with a lot of power. As long as Venus can run, none of these but Justine have a chance. And Justine has lost seven in a row to Venus, the last being last year at OZ.

:lol::lol: looks pretty easy. But I'm just gonna take it match by match.
Lina might be a little tricky. Plus I get nervous when she plays someone she hasn't played before.
not to mention if Kim pulls out, Venus likely will have spent minimal time on court while the opposing finalist will have just had to beat two of Lindsay/Justine/Momo

rolling my eyes is biting your head off? lol. britney, rolling my eyes is nothing. if I had called you names (in my original post) I would, but I didn't.
unless the rust is too overbearing this australian open has Venus Williams name all over that trophie. The first 4 players she has in her draw are relative no names 1st rnd right up to sf is a walk in the park on a breezy summer day. She might be tested on the earlier rounds because of the remaining rust, however once she completely warms up right after or by the 4th round there will be no one stopping Venus, firstly theres no Serena in her draw and an in form Hingis is no longer even playing on tour, and the years when Davenport used to beat Venus on the qfs are long gone last time was aussie 99 or 98? besides she's injured and not in Venus' draw. Its all really in Venus hand!
I think Ashley Harkleroad might be a bit of a match in the first round, other than that I think she should be alright till Justine. I agree with cdpoulin though, almost all the top players have fairly easy draws. Except of course the quarters between Lindsay and Justine, I bet neither of them were really hoping and praying for that.
If Venus is anywhere near her best she is an absolute LOCK, and I'm not even a fan.
Kim is in no condition to be taking her on (she couldn't even beat her when Venus was the injured one at Wimbledon). I doubt she will even get that far. Venus' toughest match will be against Myskina in the semis. The Russian is not scared of anyone and if Venus has shades of Aus Open 2001 then WATCH OUT. No-one on the other side of the draw is capable of beating her in a final. She is in the heads of each of Henin, Mauresmo and Davenport (who is injured anyway). I can't imagine Justine beating Venus in a major final.
