I was just wondering for which country will Kim be playing in FedCup when she marries Lleyton? She would have double nationality right?

I don't think it would be a very good move for Kim to play for Australia, only because if she did Belgium fans might be upset with her. If she did stick with Belgium though, I don't think Australian fans would really care, they would cheer for her regardless because she is not actually Astralian and she is playing for her country. If she is looking to please everyone, she would keep it like it is. At least that's what I think anyway.

I think that ship already sailed during the whole Olympics issue. As far as Fed Cup '04, I hear Kim's trying to get Jennifer Capriati to play with her under the Fila flag. ;)

Marrying an Australian does not give you automatic citizenship, although if the spouse of an Aussie applies (and it's clear the marriage is not just so you can immigrate!) then it is very likely they will get it.

I think that both Lleyton and Kim will probably take out dual citizenship at some stage, or at the very least make sure that their kids have both, but will continue to play for Australia and Belgium respectively for their tennis careers.

I think that sounds about right. I have a question though for anybody who knows the answer. When Lleyton and Kim get married would it be better for them to get dual citizenship? What's the difference between having it and not having it?

I'd love it for Kim to become an Aussie resident. Australia doesn't have any good female players besides Alicia Molik and lets face it, even she isn't that good. It would be good for the country if Clijsters Changed nationality.
I'm assuming you didn't see the Hopman Cup match where Alicia was matching Kim beautifully before poor Kim got injured and had to retire. Alicia is an excellent player with definate top ten potential who has been held back by injuries.

Anyway, I'd love to see Kim play for Australia. But I don't think it'll happen.

If I remember well, Belgium doesn't allow the double nationality

*bump*

Really? So that means that if Lleyton and Kim have kids, their kids wouldn't be permitted to have both Belgian and Australian citizenship?

Ah ok, I misunderstood  Sorry

I don't imagine citizenship would be a problem, I'm sure you can have two, especially if your spouse is of another nationality. As far as nationality goes I don't think Kim will to Australian and if she does, it'll only be after she stops playing.
