Expected really. She isn't one for small tournaments, which may be part of her problem. However given she has not had wrist problems is wonderful. I look forward to her 2016 season. She can only go up!
She had all that time off (18 months?). She’s been back 4 months, played only 11 matches, won only 3, and now she wants even more time off? Sounds like that wrist hasn’t been 100% and still isn’t :frown2: That's why the tweet mentions the injury, I presume.
It's not the left wrist she had surgery on. But she's had a series of niggles including problems with her right wrist (which she also had issues with in 2013 after Wimbledon..)
there are threads about sugarpova, serena love life, sasha Bajin, I even made a similar thread about Costança, some fan made one about Lisicki so I don't think that is inappropriate to made one about Robson on GM
I don't find that surprising.
After a long break, she decided to come back to see how her body would deal with the pressure of the tour and now she is beginning a big training block to be ready for 2016. It's rather clever in my opinion
It's not as if there were many tournaments left in 2015 for her to play. If she's taking some time off to seriously train and come back strong in 2016 then good for her. Otherwise I'm afraid she doesn't a very bright future in pro tennis anymore.
sounds like she's not willing to do the effort of playing small WTAs and ITFs to make her comeback. Being popular might be cool, but it backfires sometimes, as I think it is this case. :/
Oh gosh it's still the wrist? Wish her a speedy recovery and a more successful comeback next year
Wimbledon and USO are not well known enough?
Her first match was Q1 match vs Gavrilova at Eastbourne, nearly got double bagelled. And she almost beat Vesnina at USO. Up 4-0 in the third only to lose 5-7
(just in case: sorry if you're just trying to be sarcastic )
I guess all wrist injuries don't have to be alike, but if Laura is looking for an encouraging parallel to draw from, there is always the case of Sania Mirza. She had multiple wrist injuries iirc and came back from that be world no. 1 in dubs. So perhaps there is hope for Laura, who is still very young. Wish her the best.
Yeah there are lots of success stories with wrist injuries, with Kim Clijsters and Flavia Pennetta too. But everyone just lovers to compare her to Del Potro. TBH it's completely different because Laura is not rushing her comeback like Del Potro did.
