Re: Beijing SF: (12) Timea Bacsinzky d. (6) Ana Ivanovic 57 64 61
Ana, that was just an horrible 3rd set from her. Embarassing.
Bacsinszky didn't even play that well today, tbh. But it's not like she's that good. That double fault in the 5-4 game in 2nd set :hah:. But congrats in making top 10, she had some tough moments during her career and had good results this year :yeah:
I think she asked her if she was okay. She believed the injury was real. Maybe it was. After consideration it's hard for me to imagine such an extreme mental implosion without something concrete to precipitate it. It was a strange match.
Poor Ana. Once Timea broke in the 2nd all the momentum was with her, despite a brief fightback from Ana from 5-1 down to 5-4. 3rd set was all Timea's; Ana's 2 MTOs didn't help her at all.
Well done Timea; top 10 for the first time in her career! Hope Ana comes back strong next year.
Ana had this match on her racquet but she failed miserably on both the physical and mental side.
Congrats Timea!!
BTW I don't think she tried to cheat this time. Her movement was indeed strange after the MTO but you should still lose the game if you stop the play like she did.
After that horrendous DF from Timea on 5-4 deuce, to give Ana a BP, she took some time to be ready to receive the ball... for no reason. Timea had finished bouncing the ball before Ana got to her position. And the MTOs....
But big gratz to Lady Gaga for making the final and entering the top 10 after the miserable flop of Artpop, at least she is getting success somewhere else.
Her game was made up of forehand errors and double faults for the most part. Truly incompetent throughout the match not only at key moments.
Would've rather her lose the second set 6-2 and win those two straight games in the beginning of set 3 rather than seeing her get to 2 BPs at that 5-4* games to fuck up.
I lost count after those 7/8 straight errors in the final set. The attitude at the end was the disgusting. If you were in pain and even needed a midgame MTO then it's better to retire and save yourself from embarrassment.
Funny how people talked about YEC chances. She didn't even deserved to be mentioned for Singapore at all. But reaching a SF here is a positive in terms of solidifying the qualification for Zhuhai. Eh. She might still flop there anyway.
Congrats to Timea! Solid and kept her composure. Her forehand is tragic, though. But had her moments with it as the match progressed. Welcome to the Top 10.
