If Caro had converted one of those MPs against Cetkovska

Would Flavia still hold the USO trophy right now?

I know there are a lot of what-if scenarios from the Open, but this is particularly interesting... Caro has an amazing H2H (7-1) against Pennetta.

She would've lost to somebody else, maybe Pennetta, maybe Halep (or vika had she beaten Halep :oh:). There are about 80 different scenarios for Woz to lose had she beaten Cetkovska, and about 2 winning scenarios. The odds of her winning a slam will never be in her favor

Poor Woz! She could have had a great tournament... :bigcry:
Or maybe she would just flop to Flavia. The H2H is straightforward, but she really performs at a significantly lower level in GS. She puts a lot of pressure on herself, when in reality there's none. :awww: And she had a terrible preparation for the US Open

Imo the more interesting question would be: if Halep had won against Flavia what would have happened? When Halep lost, Serena would only need to beat two lower-ranked italian players to win a GS, the pressure for her to win was even bigger. No one expected her to lose. Of course in reality she should spank Halep, but she's still the Real World #2. Imo, she could have won the Slam this way.

Halep would have a slam. Cause no way was Sunshine making it all the way to the final.
If Halep and Vinci both reached the final, Vinci would have won. :bigwave: Halep won 4 games in the SF for crying out loud.

Cetkovska - Woz was the real match of the tournament. You could not take your eyes away.

The best part was when they showed a montage Woz's box every time Cetkovska hit a winner on MP. So hilarious, her dad thought she had won it so many times. I have a feeling he is behind every petition to get On-Court Coaching in the slams. Caro has a much better chance if that ever happens (it won't).

It made me a huge fan of Cetkovska's game. She also played arguably Pennetta's toughest match on her way to the title.

Gotta love match-ups on the WTF Tour :hearts:

If If If's,

The fact is she didn't, and you could go on forever about what if this happened, what if that happened. I.E: If Aga had beaten Sabine in Wimbledon Final, She most likely would be a slam champion and Marion would still be playing. But we deal with reality, and the fact is that Aga didn't, Caro didn't, and life goes on :p

3rd round of Wozniacki-Pennetta would have been interesting.
Caroline thrives in this matchup, like Flavia thrives against Stosur.
But it would still be only round 3, and there are plenty of majors that would change in the middle rounds based on one point
Serena has won majors after being down match point. But very few other women have done it recently

Very much doubt that she would have lost to Vinci in the final. I would rather see her losing in SF against Petra the same way she lost to Flavia.
If Halep and Vinci both reached the final, Vinci would have won. :bigwave: Halep won 4 games in the SF for crying out loud.
Knowing that she beat easily Flavia last time they met, Simona probably was thinking she is already in the final. Probably her mind was already set to her match against Serena, thinking that if she just beat Vika she would have good chances against Serena too. But Flavia had other plans.
Simona's record in the finals is too good when not facing Serena or Maria, so Vinci would have had little chances against Simona.

She wouldn't make it to the final so no.

Competition is not about IFs.

Hey I'm a Jelena Jankovic fan. I know a LOT about IFs. JJs career is full of IFs :rolls: I think I'd have killed myself already

USO 06 vs Henin for example. :yeah: and that's just 1 example.

IW F against Halep too
