your classic quarter-finals!!!!

Out of all the rounds in grandslams, my favourite round is the quarter-finals. usually, because they are of such high quality

this year we saw

petrova bt zvonareva 6/1 4/6 6/3 (great rallies)
serena bt capriati 2/6 6/2 6/3 (classic)
venus bt davenport 6/2 2/6 6/1 (classic)
clijsters bt farina-elia 5/7 6/0 6/1 (unexpected challenge from farina)

my all time favourite is 1999 wimbledon

graf bt venus 6/2 3/6 6/4, such high quality......

whats YOUR favourite quarter-final and why???

2001 was a particularly great year for GS quarterfinals, as well as the Hingis/Williams Epic there was also:

V. Williams def Coetzer (Aus Open) 2-6 6-1 8-6 (see sawing battle)
Capriati def Seles 5-7 6-4 6-2 (Aus Open) - Jenn announced "I'm Back"

Two classics from the Jenn/Serena rivalry:
Capriati def S. Williams at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon

Also probably the most underrated quarterfinal of our time at the US Open
S Williams def L. Davenport 6-3 6-7(7) 7-5 (This was the match when Serena announced she was going to be a force to be reckoned with - no more choking like agst J. Cap - and then she went on to dominate the next year)

Also never forget that great Wimbledon quarterfinal between Venus and Martina in 2000. That was another great page in their rivalry, and an important turning point for Venus as she went on to win her first GS

I mean compared to the Hingis/Williams QF at the Aus Open. It might just be underrated because I am in Australia

philadelphia 98 sadly didn't see it, but that score probably gave me the most joy on the day or night in this case (from a quarterfinal perspective then)

oh wait it's about slams

wimbledon 95 mary joe 6:3 6:0

steffi is not often totally satisfied about a set, this time she was

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night
