Alexandra Stevenson at the Mall!

I'm in Philadelphia for the TG holidays and was getting ready to make dinner when I realised that I didn't have the chestnuts I needed. So I went to the mall at King of Prussia (just outside Philadelphia) to get some at Williams Sonoma and I saw Alexandra Stevenson at the mall!! I do not follow her so I don't know if she's from this area or not (I'm guessing now that she is), but it was semi-exciting for me to see someone on the tour, even though I'm not an Alex fan.

She was looking pretty good and she was with four boys and they were just walking around, shopping and stuff. She was carrying a bag from Abercrombie & Fitch and I couldn't help but to follow her a little bit.

I've never been a fan of hers and I've often felt like she was overrated and disappointing...but it's always different when you bump into someone for real. Suddenly they seem very human and vulnerable to you and not the perceptions you have of them in your mind. Not that I'm going to starting being her biggest fan, but seeing her as a regular person softened me to her a bit.

Anyhow, I rarely bump into celebrities...next time, I am hoping that it's one of the people in my sig file!

I wonder if she was visiting her father?

No I'm sure not but its a thought?

vs1, seeing celebrities can be surreal sometimes.

There's this noodle dish my mum taught us to make when we were growing up...it's fresh pasta-type noodles (although the french would never call it pasta... because it's french, not italian!! ) with garlic, olive oil, chestnuts and herbs-de-provence and sea salt. It is then topped with poached lobster. It is quite excellent. Williams Sonoma sells really lovely peeled chestnuts...imported from France. Just like how mami used to make 'em!

You were probably the only person who recognized her.

Yeah, I think so. I mean, I followed her around enough to see if anyone would talk to her. But the mall was empty (day before TG) and she was wearing a cap that kind of covered her face. But I've seen her live at tournies before and I know with certainty that it was her. It was kind of cool. I just wished it happened more often...and with my faves...or at least my next level down faves. But it was still fun!

I wish I could see tennis players at the shops. I dont think anyone would really come to australia to shop though, unless they were aussies themselves.

Alicia likes shopping a lot i think. Someone else says they saw Alicia on Chapel St! I never see her though. I thought she was from Adelaide anyway?

I've heard many negative stories about Stevenson, but when I saw her, she was always smiling, seemed really nice and she played a great match that day with a positive attitude. I kinda like her since that. She's maybe immature on some aspects, but she's just a normal girl.

Hmmm..maybe she is originally from Adelaide but I think she considers Melbourne her home now. She is very down-to-earth and goes out and lives her life like the rest of us. So when you're walking around Melbourne, look out for Alicia!!

Besides her and Alex, I don't think I've seen any shopping tennis pros...although I have bumped into Lleyton at the SF airport before. My hitting partner bumped into Kim the day after she won Stanford. But she wasn't shopping.

Sounds delicious, I'm gonna try and make it!

I've never seen any tennis folk in normal environments though I've seen almost everyone else.

Oh really?! How cool!!! Who have you seen?! My list is short.

The Late Princess Diana in Kensington (London)
Ben Affleck and Robin Williams in Las Vegas (not together, mind you)
Tracey Ullman at a museum in SF (Exploratorium)
Friedericke von Stade in Berkeley
Pat Rafter in Mosman (Sydney)
Alicia Molik on Collins St. (Melbourne)
Cameron Diaz in Sydney (RENT show)
Lleyton Hewitt at the SF Airport
Alex Stevenson at the mall

...and then a slew of tennis players at various tourneys.
