CAPRIATI

Groundstrokes-
Forehand-A+ One of the best in the game ever
Backhand-A- Equally solid, perhaps not as explosive, perhaps a bit too conservative at times

Serve-B- Although I see tremendous improvement in this region, Jennifer still has a tendency to lose her serve when she gets tight, and it throws the rest of her game into shambles.

Movement-A This is another strong point in Jennifer's game. She has perfect balance, is very fast both laterally and vertically on the court, and controls her shots on the run very nicely.

Power-A Right up there with the best in the game, though she must fight her instincts to go for it more in tight situations.

Career Acheivements-B+ this should have been better. With her talent, there is no excuse for not having won at least 4 or 5 slams and 25/30 titles. Her entire lapse from 1992 to 1999 hurt her badly, and even today, she screws up big time in big matches.

Money-A+ Millions in prizemoney, millions more in endorsements. Hell, this kid has been set since 14.

Fame/Popularity--A- She is the comeback kid, and is totally lovable, but she turns off a lot of people with her on court dramatics.

Kim

Forehand--B Powerful, but not consistent at all. Too much topspin for my liking.

Backhand--B+ not as powerful as FH, but extremely consistent. Angles excellent, but shot overall is too conservative. This will beat the nobodies of tennis, but it doesn't get it done against the big girls.

Serve--A- Again, consistent, tidy, effective, but not world class. Needs to vary spins more, improve power, though placement is near perfect.

Movement--A+ in my opinion, the best in the game. Balance, speed in all directions, and controll on the run are excellent. Sliding is special and unique. Perfect in this area.

Power--B+ It is definately there, but she rarely uses it. In matches, she barely, if at all, ranks among tennis' top 10 in terms of power. She gets far too conservative, and fails miserably at mental toughness.

Career--B+ Chokes at big moments, but in such a short time, has amassed a considerable number of titles, and has done farily well in majors. Needs more time.....

Money--A+ Everyone who reaches this level is set for life.

Fame/Popularity--C Doesn't market herself well enough, is virtually unknown in US even after doing well on US circuit. needs desperate improvement.

Well I will not grade Kim and Jennifer on a point by point basis.

I will just state an opinion.

Jennifer is the better player if she could just get her head on straight. She is aggressive most of the time and has great shots. Her serve is weak, but so is Kim's

Kim is more of a defensive player when she battles the big guns... Serena, Venus, Justine, Jennifer etc. She can win if THEY screw up. She does not take the game to them.

Jen is usually aggressive from the start, but then starts playing "safe" when she gets a lead. This doesn't work vs Serena. Note that Jen has won the first set vs Serena MANY times in the last two years, only to lose the second and third sets.
Jen needs to learn to KEEP playing aggressive to stop losing those three setters.

Jen vs Venus.. they havent played very much, but notice that ever since Jen snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in Miami in 2001, Venus has been in her head, and she just doesn't play well when they meet.

Jen gives Serena fits EVERY time they play, while Venus has coasted to victory. Yet Serena has won vs Venus the last SIX times!!

Back to Kim: Her wins vs the other top four or five players depend on that player playing a bad game.
This is why she has no slams. She is talanted enough to change this picture, but I don't see it happening in 2004. Maybe 2005!

Ton say that Kim is more popular than Capriati...well i dunno. Maybe in Belgium, but i have my doubts Capriati would lose in a catagory like that.

SJW, jen has won 3 slams, Kim has won NON so to give her an A is really rather stupid. Finals dont count as grand slam titles sweety!

Hmmm, 91-13 or 42-18?
Oh wait, I'm sorry, what was the question?

You have to answer for Santino, Carlo.
