Who is best suited to promote the WTA

Out of the top 20 players today who is best suited to promoted the WTA. With success both on and off the court.

I say the sisters. Do you agree or disagree? Please state why if you choose to reply to this thread.

The sisters of course. No disrespect to Kim and Justine, but the sisters are bigger in tennis than the Belgians.

Always bet on black!
Can you handle the truth?

Who are you marketing to?

Are you trying to sell more tickets, get more TV viewership, or get more people playing? Are you marketing to pre-teens, teenagers or adults? Males or females?

To capture the 'Kournikova'-market, best hope Zvonareva or Sharapova is the real deal. They may have been jerking off in the stands, but those people bought tickets. There's no point in ignoring that market.

Venus and Serena's outside interests become free WTA marketing, handled properly. Every TV part Serena gets is free pub for the WTA.

Kim could do well in the 'role model' market, but she's so close in age to Serena and Serena's turning out to have star power.

I dunno. It's a moot point. Serena's a star on a level no one else is on in the WTA right now. She IS the face of the tour, like it or not.

Proud to be an American
Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

Agree. Yep, sell more tickets, and get more TV viewership.

True Willow. But they also want to make money and I do not think anyone can make that happen only a selected two.

Good point Ph51. Is Kim popular in Europe?

I don't think it should be one person, the Williams sisters will bring non-fans of tennis, African-americans and other minorities. And the Belgians will bring in caucasians. All, in all it works well.

I can't believe you said that! Do you feel that way?

I still find it hard to believe that one likes/dislikes a player because she looks/doesn't look like you
