How new are you to the Internet!?, no. 4chan since its inauguration have become the cesspool of the Internet with a only flickers of positive flame. Like, when I mean trash I mean fat neckbeards fapping over pictures of their own cousins' on/b/ as well as no organisation in thought or direction rather a trend in threads that depict not altruistic goals. However,(!!!) anonymous did form from this website which I complete condone! It's just that 4chan is the (on avg eclectic mind of a 14 year old male posting at a whim - some positive and some negative.)

Where is the lie? TF is a cesspool of the highest order and has been getting worse and worse every fucking year.

You encounter old perverts, illiterate dumbfucks, racist pigs, sexist/misogynistic pricks, insufferable tweens at every corner. Add that the moderation is beyond below par. We cannot use the word bitch, yet all the vile morons can spew their bigotry, hate, and stupidity with no consequences.

He is a somebody.

He is T R A S H. A quick scroll through his posting history shows that he actively participated in and fully embraced TF and all her accompanying quirks. Yet after he gains a few twitter followers and writes for the NYT (albeit in a t r a s h y fashion - see recent fiasco), he is quick to distance himself from TF's 'cattiness' - calling for all in tennis to stay away from this plague (as if he isn't in the outermost tennis circle not to mention the bottom of the tennis food chain). A fucking MESS.
I know its a foreign concept to you but people actually change their views and grow out of certain behaviour patters over time.

Has Ben finally washed his hair?
Have you finnaly had a nose job and clipped your ears back? #twocanplaythatgame

Ben (and Courtney) are an embarrassment to journalism.
Still better than being an embarrassment to the human race.

According to them this is like an unmoderated twitter :spit:
In general they're saying moderators and admins are not doing enough/anything to make this place civil which is not entirely wrong.

Cosigned. Ben and Courtney can be obnoxious, but they're correct in that TF (at least, GM) can be a place of vitriol and disgusting messages.

The player boards are usually much more friendly and community oriented, probably because they're so much smaller.

I was sitting next to Ben during the very exciting Serena v Caro match in Singapore back in October. He played 2048 during most of it.

Say what you want about TF, but it remains the most significant web community about women's tennis. So while there is a shit ton of cattiness here (and a whole bunch of idiots), you're not going to find a better web destination to "discuss" the sport. Ben and Courtney know this.

This is basically exactly what they said, plus that players/parents shouldn't read it, which is totally correct. TF of course lives up to its reputation by a huge number of posters kicking off without even bothering to listen to what the pair of them said. But hey, blabbering on about something you haven't bothered to actually look into or know anything about is what 95% of this forum contains nowadays. It's more fun to be misinformed, right?

Ben also said he was kinda trolly in the past as well when he was a poster here, so calling him out on that is a bit pointless given he's not denying he was a part of it (along with Television Without Pity and other similar forums). It would have been a fair criticism if he was trying to act all holier than thou about the place, but he really wasn't.

Everything they said was totally accurate and not remotely offensive about this place. - it is a catty mess and everyone embraces it and keeps coming back because of that. Although I don't buy that journos don't pop in every know and then and pick up good stories from here (maybe they use twitter more nowadays). I know for example that one now discredited British journalist used to find stories from britishtennis.net on a regular basis.

He makes this place sound like the Mos Eisley of Tennis.

4Chan has been described as the Mos Eisley of the Internet, which is probably true in its case.

I think Ben's right in that anyone affiliated with the tennis world probably should not be checking this site out as people can be quite nasty towards particular players for no apparent reason. And yes, some of the trolling and downright stupidity on this forum gives it a bad reputation, but there are genuine discussions taking place on here about the sport that is tennis. Where else can i discuss the merits of the Bacsinszky backhand or the changes to the 2016 WTA calendar when I don't belong to a hard core tennis community. And i must admit, a lot of us enjoy the drama that is women's tennis. the countless GIFs of entertaining scenes from matches, references only TF members would know (check her blood pressure, y u say vamos, Daniela Antoxfa, WTA pls comics) add to the fun of following women's tennis. I mean half of the people on here worship the Empress just because she is hilarious and quite a character. yes you get trolls and some nasty people, but i like to think most of us are die hard women's tennis fans who just love the game of tennis

Banana doesn't know him. Banana just checked on google and the only thing she could get is that his face is like a bad copy of Dexter Morgan's. Next.

This is exactly the idiotic nature of the forum considering Ben's history of good journalism and ability to get stories others don't like wimbledo plagerism,Bacsinszky's story on her comeback etc. It all boils down to the fact you ahven't always liek dhis opinion and so you rubbish everything else and ignore . The worst of tennis forum in a nutshell.

I really like NCR. It is one of the few places where you can get tennis information via sports talk. I wish it were on more than once per week for an hour. They are also one of the very few forums that give the WTA equal billing. Now that Courtney works for the WTA, I am hoping it can become essentially a WTA sports talk show. That would be great. And it is badly needed. I think they could find a really large niche audience.

With regard to TF. Is it just me or does it seem like they "at best" lurk here a lot? I think its obvious that they do.

I much agree about NCR. i can't believe theer are so many idiotic posters who claim it's gossip. The interview Rothenberg did on how the Wimbledon media management for NCR a few eeks agao (while walking around wimbledon) was brilliant and informative and interesting to listen too, you wlaked away a betetr informed tennis fan, I couldn't believe was just given free for podcast listeners rather than him selling the piece. But that is teh quality of what they do.

I'm not sure they lurk regularly, but they certainly do occasionally. Remember if you do a lot of google searches on tennis players, tennis form topics come up frequently as search results. As I said, some posters here are informative on corners of tennis that simply isn't available anyhwere else.
