Sanex Hero of the Year is......

Sorry if this is old news:

Justine Henin-Hardenne Elected Player of the Year by Popular Internet Vote!
A record of more than 30,000 tennis fans from all over the world have elected the Sanex Hero of the Year on the Internet. The fans have chosen Justine Henin-Hardenne whose outstanding performance this year has thrilled tennis audiences around the globe. Justine succeeds Monica Seles who won the inaugural award in 2002 and came a close second this year. Justine Henin-Hardenne has received the award from Stephanie Morel, the 2003 most inspired reporter of the Sanex Heroes fan community accompanied by Georgina Clark, Vice President European Operations of the WTA Tour on-court after her last round robin match at the Bank of America WTA Tour Championships.

No disrespect to Justine. She's had a terrific year and I think she deserves to be No1 for all the hard work she has put in but I thought we were voting for an 'on-and-off-court' hero.

Man, proud man, drest in a little brief authority, most ignorant of what hes most assured,
his glassy essence, like an angry ape, plays such fantastic tricks before high heaven,
as makes the angels weep.

at Sanex Heroes

Still, congratulations Justine, irrespective of what I think of the way they ran this competition this year, she's a worthy winner nonetheless

The way I see it friends is that it's not Justine
that alot of people hate. It could've been
anyone that had defeated their favorite player.
Some tennis fans of certain players tend to
discredit and hold in contempt any other player
that challenges them in anyway in big events,
especially grand slam. Before Justine...it was
the same with Lindsay. People were just thrashing
her left and right- finding faults in everything
she did. They left her alone since, she hasn't
been beating their favorites lately. Then these
very same people were thrashing Jenn because
she won the AO, and RG trophy against..you
guessed it- their favorite player. I don't think
these people are tennis fans. They just like only
their player and pretty much despise everyone
else.

Justine's the player of the year. End of story.
