yes because you need to take the average lenght of the matches not the extreme cases

you took the extreme that suits your reasoning but i could do the exact same thing on reverse.

Serena df peasant 6-0 6-0 in 35min.

Djokovic df Anderson 6-7 7-6 6-4 4-6 8-6 in 4h
I guess Federer should get less money than Djokovic and Murray then.

Anyway, I think women (WTA) would be alright with best of 5, but ITF does not want them to due to scheduling. So you can't really pay less if you don't even allow them to play longer matches.

WTA chief executive Stacey Allaster said the Grand Slam Committee, comprised of the chairmen of the four grand slam tournaments and the president of the ITF, was not keen on the five-set concept.

"We've long been in this discussion that we'll play five sets but the slams don't want us to," Allaster said."

Seeing proffesional ATP players bitching about women being paid as much as they do is the most ridiculous thing ever. And i still dont get what's their problem. They want to get paid more or they just dont like seeing girls paid as much as they do.Cause if it's the latter then it's a damn egotistical point of view.I'm sure in times of economic crisis many ppl with sympathize with Gilles Simon."Poor Gilles,he's 30 and made only 10 million dollars in his career. How can Yaninan Wickmayer dare and demand the same"

By your logic, Men doubles should be paid more money than women singles in Wimbledon as well. 5>3 no?
Like in real life, It's not about the number of hours you spend at work
it's about getting the job done/fulfilling the objectives efficiently. I like ATP too but some 5 sets matches are really boring, and they'd better be closed in 2.

Also It's absurd to require the same when bodies are totally different. The physical ceiling of men is way higher than women
Not necessarily. It depends on if payment is based on working time (like most jobs in Germany for example) or on performance. But as payment in professional tennis isn't based on working time obviously (otherwise Kvitova would get less money for her match against Bertens as Serena for her match against Gasparyan for example because she spent less time on court) it isn't that important.

Women should earn the same as men imo, it's just harder to compare two professional tennisplayers (male and female) than a male and a female officeworker (and yet they don't have the same payment!).

If yer that hot then you probably enjoy the male attention too much to leave it completely.
dafuq? That just reinforces the stereotype that lesbians are into women because they can't attract enough men.

A lesbian won't give a shit on whether the whole male world is after her, she's simply not into schlong, regardless of the possible amount she could get.

Poor Gilles Simon.Instead of making 10.100.000$ hittin a fuzzy yellow ball,Yanina Wickmayer made him earn ONLY 10.000.000$ I'm sure street sweepers in Russia will sympathize with his case.Workers of the World Unite!
well its a similar situation to the women being angry that giles simon was making x amount of money more than them when they were still making millions

equal pay is artificial, i even saw somthing on espn that showed how much prizemoney the US football federation got for winning the womens world cup compared to the mens team for simply making the knockout round of 16 in the mens tournament

unsurprisingly the women got less than the men, but they were trying to produce an argument that it should be equal

like i said if womens tennis becomes much more popular in the future, is venus williams then going to write a letter to explain why the women should be getting more

It's not about ego or being paid less. It's about being fair IMO. When men are generating more revenue it's only logical they ask to be paid more. It's human tendency. Don't act like it's not logical. You think women won't complain if their pay was equal to Wheel chair players or girls singles ? Please don't say they won't

so you're saying that playing best of 5 is equal to playing best of 3? because that's the problem for me.

If you work for more hours you should get paid more. It's simple logic.

Equal pay would be fine for me if men would also play best of 3.

This argument has been played out so many times, but for me, the crux of the matter is that it is not all about how much time they spend on the court. The women spend an equal amount of time in training, dealing with the media, travelling to tournaments etc, so the disparity of court time is only a tiny percentage bigger for the men than it is the women overall.

I agree it's not about how much time one spends on court. It should be how much revenue each association brings in.

I'm not talking about being paid exactly for the hours you play, i'm talking about accepting that best of 3 is not the same as best of 5.
They're 2 different things and they should be paid accordingly.

even if it's only a little part it's still not fair. Even if it should be only 5% or 2% more.

Whether or not WTA players should get the same amount of money as ATP players, is a difficult subject. The biggest pro is obviously the ethical part, but there are several cons too (e.g. best of 2 vs. best of 3, more people watching men's tennis,...) I'm all for equal price money, but those are arguements that are difficult to counter.

However, I think it's ridiculous that some ATP players complain about (the idea of) equal price money. What's their problem? :help: They still get paid the same amount as ever, only their female colleagues are getting paid more than they used to, but not more than the men do. It's not like a part of their money goes to the women.

I honestly cannot stand ATP players who are bitching about WTA players getting equal price money. They are either sexists or really egocentrical (or possibly both) :tape:

Again it's not B05 or BO3. It's about the revenue each tour generates. Do women generate more money than men ? No. Length of their matches is irrelevent if people don't show interest to watch.

serena generate more money then birdy, milos or ferrer. should they paid more than her? fed generate more then novak no matter if he win or lose, should he get more?
maria generate more than stan or kei, should she get more?

but the court time is a big part of the equation because i think the primary income for wimbledon is them selling their television content

the training and travelling time is actually the minutiae, why not use that argument to say that someone like gasparyan deserves as much money as serena

I think even Halep brings more attention to the WTA than someone like Berdych or Ferrer does for the ATP.

But we all know that Stakhovsky just says this for attention since he can't get it on the court for his results

Then will you agree if a girl singles winner is paid as much a women's single winner just like how a women's singles winner is paid as much as men's singles winner ?

A girl's singles winner doesn't bring as much attention as a women's singles winner :help:

Why are people on Womens tennis forums and spew their backwards ideas :tape:

I'm wondering why the women didn't complain about having less , not even equal, prize money when they were so much more popular in the early 2000s?
