Question How can somebody win a three setter by making only 2 winners

Thats possible. Anna Pistolesi d. Sybille Bammer 64 26 62 and had only 2 winners in the whole match. Match lasted more than 2h 30min.

The wall is really unbelievable but...
match statistics
Pistolesi Bammer
dircet winners: 2 26
FH: 2 16
BH: 0 10
service winners: 0 9
dauble faults: 4 2
unforced errors: 14 36
fastet service 168 km/h 181 km/h

That's cruel... Pistolesi made 10 unforced errors from play in the whole match...

I remember Widjaja wining against Kournikova at one of the Slams by making 1 winner in the whole match... but I know that's different

I think this stat is incorrect, I saw the match on tv, Pistolesi made more winners then two, she was at the net a couple of times, hit passing shots...

I saw it too and I can remember 2 real winners, one when Sybille was at the net and one forhand winner from Anna but also if there were 3 or 4 that isnt that impressive

I'm not surprised bearing in mind the way she plays.

The main thing is that she won though .

I remmember Hingis hitting only 7 winners against Serena in the Usopen final in 1999, i was impressed with that too.

Anna doesn't hit a lot of winners but she makes her opponent do a lot of errors and it's as important!

How is a direct winner different from a regular winner?

Tatiana Golovin, Timea Bacsinzky, Petra Kvitova, Kristina Mladenovic, Laura Robson

That's not too surprising. When Anna played against Capriati in New Haven, she only hit about 6 or 7 winners over the course of 2 hours. When she played Serena she didn't even hit one. Her game is all about frustrating the other person. After watching her play a couple of matches this year, I'm convinced she is a better retriever and wall than Coetzer in her prime (just not at the Slams). Anna would have definitely been a top 5 player if she played like this 5 or 6 years ago.

Anna Pistolesi is a loopy non-agressive player, its not surprising.

Good Luck Radwanska Sisters!
