so these top-10 players have the biggest chances to move if they play well in the first half of the year:

Davenport
V. Williams
Clijsters
Seles
S. Williams
Dokic (she virtually has no points to defend until april)

Martina and Jennifer will have a very hard time defending, as they both have over 3000 points to defend in the first half of the year.

Justine also has rather many points to defend.

Question: does the period ASB Classic - Ericsson include the Australian Hardcourt season?

Chanda has only about 80 points total until Eastbourne. If she can keep her ranking at a decent level to start the year, everything is gravy.

Anna will be in that position of defending seeded points from an unseeded position. She'll have to try to minimize the damage until she can gain.

I think that Aranxta will move up a few places in the Aus hardcourt season when she has so little to defend. Obviously her strength is clay, but she can definitely play better on other surfaces than she did last year.

Anna will drop initially and then rise again later in the year.
