Seriously?
Nanchang inbetween European and American tournaments?
Nice to have a International back right before NY!

Agreed on both counts.
I can't see too many European or American players going to Nanchang.

Kuznetsova won a Tier 3 in Washington DC early August.
Maybe USTA putting a MM series together for Kiick and Gibbs and the other US women

OMG, what will Svitolina (the Baku Queen) do without Baku???
I guess she is also now the princess of Marakesh, but how long until that is sold off for a tournament is Cangzhou?

Excited for Louisville. Really hope it can be successful in that spot.
It really couldn't be much more convenient for players playing the previous week in Cincinnati.

Taiwan the week after Fed Cup and before the Middle East swing?
Too bad they couldn't put in during the Asian swing but it's loaded already.
Nanchang is a vulture's dream.
Stacey stated that a goal of the WTA was to have better calendar flux and it's now worse than ever.
Florianopolis and Nanchang will have the weakest Entry Lists in the whole history of the Tour.

I'm enjoy the loss of the Baku slam more if it wasn't another far east rournament. At least Baku is on the edge of europe at the latter end of the european season.

So they told Torino, there was no spot for a tournament and they'll give a tournament to China in the middle of the US-Season?
Epic stuff.

Didn't a grass tournament in Halle get denied only for Kuala Lumpur to be approved with a terrible spot?

WHAT!? WEST HEMPSTEAD? That's like 20 minutes from me! There are no facilities worthy of holding an event. We have an outdoor park that has red clay and hardcourts but they are AWFUL. Then there is an indoor facility with only 5 indoor hard courts. Indoors hard in the middle of May? Outdoor red clay (Awful red clay) beginning of May on Long Island? Weather may not cooperate.
I am both excited and disturbed at the same time!

Who'd of thought Baku could be replaced by something even worse :haha: #BringBackBaku
I give Louisville 2/3 years before its gone or moved.
The worst would be Tashkent, no?
Baku had a pretty decent stadium
Tashkent is actually an ok event, plenty have gone from the finals of Tashkent to big careers and slam performances. Azarenka, Schiavone, Lisicki, Vaidisova, Cirstea all slam quarter finalists post Tashkent.

Re: 2016 latest WTA calendar changes: Pattaya & BakuSlam wave goodbye
At least the new events added were replacements from similar region.
West Asia to East Asia (China)
Southeast Asia to East Asia (Taiwan)
Two US events coming back in Int'l and 125k
...so why is the license still called Tier III when they dropped the tier system?
Nanchang and Taipei
Two 125K going away.
