Would you vote for Martina?

She has announced that she's interested in politics, and she wasn't being funny (by most accounts- except for the Arnold quip). Would you vote for her- that is, assuming you're old enough to vote?!?

There is nothing more beautiful than Evonne Goolagong in full flight moving across a tennis court.

Depends what her policies were. I wouldn't vote for her just because she is a tennis player and I like tennis or just because our sexuality is the same.

She's liberal and will be running for the Democrats I believe. What more could you want?

Go Martina! If I was an American, I'd vote for her.

I know I'll like her policies.

Just from what is public knowledge about MN, I would vote for her for the following reasons.....

1] she is honest and forthright. Always was and always will be. Gee, now, wouldn't that be a novelty in politics.

2] She is generally well informed and has always had strong convictions. Animal rights, Womens rights, WTA, gay rights, environmental issues. She has always had a considered view wrt these and other issues, even when she was not looking at politics as a career. I dont agree with everything that she thinks.. (Im not convinced that PETA are always a good organization frinstance) but im impressed that she has used her notariety to comment about non-tennis issues that she cares about.

3] She is successful and wealthy enough not to be motivated solely by greed while in office.

4] She has shown dogged determination and committment in her tennis, and I see no reason for her not to apply this to other area of her professional life.

5] She has seen both sides of the fence. poor in czechoslovakia, rich in the USA, hated early and liked later. That kind of experience gives you perspective. A minority view is a good view, IMO.

just MHO.........................

I find Navratilova's commentary on TV to be generally rather lame and timid - i think she's kind of a poser. I'd never vote for her, unless she was running against Schwarznegger.

yeah...vote for her, so she could officialy retire from WTA.

Madame Oracene Williams could certainly teach the French & Belgian crowds on how to upgrade their respective primitive behaviours during a tennis match.
