Finally a Chinese player in the top 100 - Jie Zheng!

I was happy to see China's Jie Zheng has entered the top 100 after a strong showing in Japan. (A semifinal, win over Tamarine) A big bonus in points allowed her to jump 24 spots to 98. I believe she is the first Chinese player since Jing-Qian Yi to advance this high the rankings. (Correct me if I am wrong.)

I find this to be exciting and hopefully a few more ladies will join her in the near future. (Tian Tian, Li, Yan, Peng) Kudos to the Chinese ladies for their recent successes!

Jie and Flavia

I think Tian Tian can at least get to top 50.

I have not seen Jie play though. She did do well last week though.

Congrats!

so, among these 4 young Chinese players, who everybody thinks becoming higher ranked player?

I am sure more of Chinese players are going to be higher ranked by the Olympic there.

What was the highest ranking of Na Li??

Go! Trojans!

To my knowlege Na Li reached a career high of 123 way back in July of 2000. A month later she reached 85 in doubles. It is really a sad that she wasn't able to make a career. She seemed quite talented.

Tian Tian needs to be more consistant, but I was impressed by her play. I hope she can make it into the top 100 soon also.

Speaking of Asian women, we need more Koreans to join Cho. Mi-Ra - *Brunof pulls his hair out*

It's nice to see some more success from an Asian nation. It would be better yet if a Chinese player could move up and stay there. Fang Li got pretty far up the rankings (inside top 40), but wasn't there long. Li Chen and Jing-Qian Yi showed flashes of ability, but couldn't sustain it. (Yi made the top 70, and Chen broke Martina's record for fastest serve by a left-handed woman, before Schnyder passed her.)
