It looks like we're gonna have a new champion

The Williams sistaz and Seles are out and Davenport is injured. We are certainly going to have a new champion. It's good for tennis for a change. Whoever wins it, it will be a great story. I think Jennifer winning the title would make the best story of all as she's American and her comeback story is already huge. Kim truimphing ain't be as big but she's my sentimental favorite and if she fails to prove herself here, the thought of what's waiting for her is just dreadful. I don't want Justine to win, though she is the favorite. I just feel like she has won enough this year. It's not like I don't like her or anything. I just think Jennifer and Kim are better candidates as far as the magnity of the stories of their victory goes.

Um, what comeback? She smoked a joint and stole something off a shelf. Half the women I know have made "glorious comebacks".

You have to answer for Santino, Carlo.

Damn the whole jen comeback thing is sooo over-rated
Personally imo its alot harder to comeback from surgery or major injury then what she went through...

My faves are Dementieva and Rubin -- thank goodness they're on opposite sides of the draw!

But I do think there are a lot of interesting storylines for anybody who's interested in tennis, as opposed to ESPN (thank goodness they don't have the rights to the US Open!), who only care about half a dozen people who play tennis.

Well, coming back from being outside the Top 100 while struggling to find form and fitness to win 3 Grand Slams and get to world no. 1 is a pretty big comeback, if you ask me. Sure, the "off-the-rails" phase may well be exaggerated, but her subsequent career recovery certainly isn't. And like people say, the fact that she's a New Yorker would make it an even better story. After all, with her game I doubt she'll ever win Wimbledon, so this is her best ever chance to get the three-quarter Slam.

Say it Quietly, I'm White but I'm Really Rather Contrite

She was born in New York, so she is supposed to get special treatment.
