Arrow Anna Kournikova will be playing Volvo Women's Open 2003, Pattaya Thailand

There will be an official announcement on Thursday, 14 August 2003 at Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) by Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sonthaya Khunpluem, that they has invited Anna Kournikova to be a presenter to publicizes Thailand to encourage Thai and international tourists to travel in Thailand. TAT will pay more than $US 250,000 to Anna for presenter fee of this project.

As far as I know, Anna will be playing Volvo Women's Open 2003 which will takes place at Dusit Resort, Pattaya from the 1-9 November 2003. She will also playing exhibition match with Tammy and join tennis clinic as well.

This is our good chance for Thai people to meet the world great players in Thailand. I'm defenitely exciting. Can't wait to meet her in Pattaya.

...at her place, I would spare my money for a beauty-salon rather than paying expensive plane tickets and hotels for nothing, unless she does a tourist...

I guess then that one of the WCs has been decided...

Good initiative from TAT, but surely there are other high-profile athletes to promote Thailand?

Looking forward to the exhibition match between Anna & Tammy, as they haven't played in more than 4 years.

I laugh to think that we used to complain that Anna Kournikova never played anything below a Tier 2, and now here she is this year playing Challengers and Tier 5 tournaments. It's great for Thai tennis and it's great for Anna to play an event like this. My only concern is her fitness and her ability to deal with the humidity, unless the matches are played in the evening and night like in Dubai and Doha.

she lives in florida and wears long-sleeved shirts during practice.

....This is fucked up, fucked up....

This is your blind spot, blind spot.
It should be obvious, but it's not.

You cannot kickstart a dead horse
You just crush yourself and walk away
I don't care what the future holds
Cause I'm right here in your arms today
With your fingers you can touch me

I'll be your black swan, black swan
I'm for spare parts, broken up.

From local newspaper :http://www.bangkokpost.com/Sports/09...3_sport45.html

VOLVO WOMEN'S OPEN
Kournikova invited to play
Tor Chittinand

Russia's Anna Kournikova has been invited to play in the Volvo Women's Open at the Dusit Resort, Pattaya in November.

Organisers Pentangle Promotions Co., Ltd, said the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand (LTAT) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) had invited Kournikova and the TAT would cover the10 million baht appearance fee.

Kournikova has been troubled by persistent injuries this year, but it is hoped she will be fit by that time.

The tournament will take place November 2-10

Adm Bannawit Kengrien, the LTAT secretary general said that Kournikova would also hold a tennis clinic for young players.

He said it was encouraging that more top tennis players were coming to Thailand.

In September, Thailand is hosting an ATP Tour event for the first time.

I think her main aim is to be a a presenter to publicizes Thailand to encourage Thai and international tourists to travel in Thailand. As far as I know she has signed a contract with Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

I'm not sure if she will play Volvo Women's Open 2003, Pattaya or not. It is up to her condition. There will be an official announcement regarding this matter on Thursday, 14 August 2003 at Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) by Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sonthaya Khunpluem.
