Think US Open seeds
All these players shouldbe seeded at the US Open.
If you know of any pullouts, post and I'll change this.
These ar tenniscorner.net's 'projected rankings', re-org-ed.
01 (USA) 5995 11 Serena Williams
FR (BEL) 5911 22 Kim Clijsters
FR (BEL) 5007 20 Justine Henin-Hardenne
SF (USA) 3536 10 Venus Williams
SF (USA) 3385 19 Lindsay Davenport
QF (FRA) 2932 14 Amelie Mauresmo (FRA)
QF (USA) 2589 19 Jennifer Capriati
QF (SVK) 2078 24 Daniela Hantuchova
xx (USA) 2077 19 Chanda Rubin
xx (RUS) 1990 25 Anastasia Myskina
The advantage of a top eight seed is obvious.
The top six seeds have all played in GS finals before.
half of them are multiple GS winners.
So Myskina and Rubin should be extra motivated
4r (BUL) 1698 24 Magdalena Maleeva
4r (ESP) 1597 22 Conchita Martinez
4r (RSA) 1526 22 Amanda Coetzer
These three are pretty much cemented into
place, for all practical purposes.
They'll be seeded between #9 and #16.
4r (JPN) 1482 24 Ai Sugiyama
4r (RUS) 1469 21 Vera Zvonareva
I figure these two to keep it together
enough to at least be seeded in the top 16.
xx (USA) 1411 26 Meghann Shaughnessy
xx (RUS) 1341 22 Elena Bovina
xx (RUS) 1483 27 Elena Dementieva
xx (YUG) 1457 30 Jelena Dokic
J/Elena is having un accountable problems.
Meghan is a ferocious hard court player,
if erratic, and Elena defends next to nothing.
If she's not hurt, Meghann will certainly
climb over Dokic for the #16 seed.
Elena B's prospect don't glisten quite so
brightly, but her targets are wounded.
So I see Meghann and Elena B sneaking
through for top 16 seeds, in the Land of the
Easy Third Round Match.
3r (SUI) 1437 24 Patty Schnyder
3r (ITA) 1401 28 Silvia Farina Elia
3r (RUS) 1337 20 Nadia Petrova
3r (FRA) 1309 24 Nathalie Dechy
3r (GRE) 1239 27 Eleni Daniilidou
3r (ISR) 1224 27 Anna Pistolesi
These are the players who voted for 32 seeds.
No one ranked lower than 25 has a
US Open seed locked up.
