Question And the Winner was ...

(in the Girls' Title match in Melbourne) Barbora Strycova.

Now there have been numerous posts on this board about the other finalist, Nick Bollettieri's Maria Sharapova, who had a wonderful tournament by reaching the Final unseeded.

But I'd like to know something about the 15-year-old player who actuallly won the title. She looks very appealing, like a Kim Clisjters-type of girl.

Can anyone tell me anything about her?

Thanks in Advance!

So Barbora will turn 16 at the end of March.

Barbora's very nice actually.

Glad she was the one who took it if it wasn't going to be one of my girls

Barbora plays just like so many East Europeans with a DH BH, she does get tense in situations but thats only natural and it happens to the best of us.

BH and FH are of equal footing i'd say, can hit clean winners of bothh sides and she can volley as well.

Saw her 2/3 times and only Vera Douchevina dominated her with her big groundies and her forrays into net.

Barbora won thru as her returns/passing shots were working great.

You can tell from her photos that she is a nice, happy kid. I am rooting for her from this day forward! GO BARBORA!

Eggy, I think you made a mistake wanting Barbora to beat Eva. I thought Maria had a much better chance against Eva that Barbora. And I was unfortunately proved right.

Barbora seems to like taking out the hyped "pretty girls".. she also took out Ashley Harkleroad at Wimbledon!
Personally I think she is very pretty herself.. but there's been no hype behind her from what I've seen.. which is a good thing I think! It'll be better for her that way.

Congrats Barbora on a great victory!
