Will Kournikova still go into the Hall of Fame?

Now that the retirement of Anna Kournikova is becoming more imminent by the day, one may wonder will her loyal supporters in the international tennis organizations and the media find a way to put one of their biggest money makers of all time in the Tennis Hall of Fame alongside Evert, Navratilova and soon Hingis and later the Willimses?

Under what catagory could the rocket go in under?

All time underachiever.
Most over hyped.
Best tan.
Most popular loser.

Anna Kournikova, most beautiful top 10 player ever.

BTW: She's not going to retire for a couple more years.

She's won less titles than Martina Muller, who has one of the worst records on the tour. Doubt it. Hopefully she will become a doubles specialist or something, maybe get in like hopefully Zvereva or Fernandez will.

Well, it is the Hall of FAME, and she certainly has had more fame than any other player in a while! Interesting this - she was #1 in doubles and a top 10 singles player and was one of the most talked about tennis players for a good few years.

Mirjana Lucic : Australian Open doubles champ and back in Top 100

Jelena Jankovic : US Open finalist 2008 and World No. 1

Jennifer Capriati : 3 Grand Slams, Olympic Gold and World No.1

Rafael Nadal : 10 Grand Slams, Olympic Gold and World No.1

Yea but not always talked about for "good things".

She doesn't have the accomplishments of a Hall of Fame player. Go make music videos/take provocative photos, and be happy w/the oppurtunity tennis provided you.

"Hatred is the coward's revenge for being intimidated" - George Bernard Shaw

"And for the best of the teen-agers who followed her, and who occasionally referred to her as over the hill, Graf had a ready answer: against top-ranked Martina Hingis, Graf wound up 7-2. Graf's stirring 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 throttling of Hingis at the French Open final this June was perhaps the most emphatic parting shot the game has ever seen. "

How about Doubles Specialist. If Pam could make it in so could Anna....I think she belongs right now in the hall of shame ...it is such a shame to see her not doing what is thought of her......damn such a waste of talent......sad....sad.........real sad.......too sad.......that is sad........oh boy.

When I think of life, sometimes my response is "Oh Damn!". But I still think of life anyway, "Oh Damn!!!"

Thought you were serious for a moment. The hype on Kournikova was pure media. If anyone had ever bothered to take a serious look at her junior record, I don't think they would have pegged for Hall of the Fame material from the get-go. She didn't deserve the hype, but she made for great copy and wound up with a boatload of money in the bargain. Her results have been about what I expected -- No. 8 in the world at one point. Injuries have done a number on her, but I think that was predictable too, as most everything I ever read about her was how much she trained and played as a youngster. If she ever conquers the injuries and her own fragile psyche, I think she should reinvent herself as a serve-and-volleyer -- ala Nataliie Tauziat -- and see what comes of it.

How can Anna get into the Hall of Fame?

$8.00 admission, just like everyone else.
