Jelena on court 13!!!

the no. 11 seed jelena dokic is on court 13. She has an excellent record at Wimbledon, reaching the semis and the best they can do is put her on court 13. Not to mention her opponent is british!!!!

Not only is she British, she's been writing articles on the bbc's website.
I thought this match would be played on a feature court.

court 13 is not your average outside court. there is seating for some 200-250 people I think.

Is 200 a big crowd at Wimbledon? Do they televise court 13 matches?

I don't know what's going on there, but I saw a Thursday qualifier at the U.S. Open that had over 100 people. I didn't even know who was playing.

i think it is wimbledon's 4th or 5th biggest court. smaller than Court 2, similar to court 18.

yes, they do televise from there. it's often where they put the Brits

If they televise it, that's the important aspect. Moreso than a few hundred seats.

I can't figure out why Jelena is not a big draw. I've never understood it.

Frankly, I've been wondering about the WB officials this year.

The woman whose been in the last three finals (winning TWO) was placed on Court 2 day one, when she should have been Center Court (despite being #4 seed, and Clijsters #2 seed, Venus' history at the event should have spoken for itself) or Court 1 (has a better history then Davenport...and has beaten Lindsay in her last two trips to London).

And now Dokic on Court 13.

Baffling.

Not only has Venus won 20 out of 21 matches at this tournament, losing only to Serena, she was playing what they keep calling a "hottie".

So the Venus match on court 2 really made no sense.

Well look who is on Centre and Court 1 - Serena, Jennifer and Justine. I don't think Dokic is big enough to take one of their places on those courts, even against a Brit.

I have also seen main draw matches at the US Open on Arthur Ashe court that have had just over 100 people.

Well, then put her on Court 2! Jennifer and Dokic's history at Wimbledon is probably very similar. Both had the biggest wins of their careers here (Jen over Navratilova; Dokic over Hingis) and the best result is Semi Final.

I am a big Elena D. fan.
But I am surprised that Elena is on court 2 tomorrow and this match is on 13.

Wow people. Records shouldnt, and DONT dictate where matches are put 100% of the time. Jelena has played like shit all year, so why bother wasting show-court space when she'll probably bomb anyway.

But if Jelena loses, this is a big day for British women's tennis.
That's why it is a show court match.
