You are asked: Single or Double?

I want to know what is more important vor you: Single or double. I like playing single because there I can give 100% of that what I can but in doubles I really don't play as well as in single..maybe because of my volley...and you?

Singles, but at the same time doubles has really improved my singles game, better at the net and my return can be vicous. I actually serve better in doubles too. I love the use of angles and lobs, and working as a team. I have more doubles titles than singles. I actually won a doubles title playing w/a complete stranger. The tournament director asked if I'd like to play dubs. I said sure who's my partner? He said let me introduce him to you. We worked well together after I told him I'd serve into the sun.

In league play my dubs partner and I went undefeated for three years.

"And for the best of the teen-agers who followed her, and who occasionally referred to her as over the hill, Graf had a ready answer: against top-ranked Martina Hingis, Graf wound up 7-2. Graf's stirring 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 throttling of Hingis at the French Open final this June was perhaps the most emphatic parting shot the game has ever seen. "

I love doubles, because I feel really comfortable and it's the only time I ever get to net. (Staunch baseliner here.) It's very nice to have a partner to help pick you up if you're off.

But given my choice, I'd rather take singles. I like being independant and solely responsible for my own shot selection.

I've had better doubles results, winning some events and a lot of SF/F.

I love playing singles because I'm better at it and I can really get excited and focused in a match. I really want to win when I play singles

But on firday I mix in some doubles to improve my volleys and just have some fun with friends, then winning or losing doesn't really matter to me

A man may fight for many things. His country, his friends, his principles, the glistening ear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn.

I hate playing doubles because if I lose a point I always convince myself that it was my partners fault (either because they screwed up or put me off) and secretly end up hating them, even though its usually just because I'm crap. I dont serve very well either because more than once I have served into the back of my partners head.

No,I should definitely be on the opposite side of the net.

LOL AT jonbcn.

Sometimes when i'm not playing well, or smart, my partner shows me the way not w/words, but w/his play. We play one up one back, and confound dubs. specialist by beating them. We're both lefties w/good forehands and steady backhands, and of course good serves, returns and lobs.

singles I am not made for doubles!

just remembers me of another great quote

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night

I like the way Venus explained it once. In doubles you have dependent partner and independent partner. Dependent partner follows the gameplan, independent partner can do what they wish.

My partner is the steady rock, and I'm the hi-lite reel. I love to run down balls and get back smashes. Once hit a forehand winner from an adjacent court, I've got it on tape wish i could post it.

Singles...def..I like to be able to blame myself if I lose, and only worry about my game. And I like feeling proud, like I worked hard when I won. I like singles so much better. Doubles is more for fun for me anymore. I used to play doubles for my school...now I play singles. I worked hard for it, and I love it. A lot of work, but it's great.

Corina Morariu-get better soon! I miss cheering for you!!

I like singles more, b/c I can visualize and work the point. I can't read where the ball is going as well in doubles. However I'm not very aerobically(sp?) fit, so I'm only good for about 25 mins.....haha. So I think I enjoy doubles more, plus I love being at the net.

BTW- Is it bad tennis etiquette to return a serve in doubles right at the net person? I've found that they normally can't get out of the way fast enough to hit it and also they assume I'm going crosscourt. Whenever I aim for down the line shot, I miss it more often than I make it.

SINGLES!!!! I like being in control (or out of control..) of my own results. Plus my groundstrokes are killer, and I love to run my opponents around the court, corner to corner, and watch them wilt from exhaustion. (sadsistic, aren't I ?)

Doubles, I don't have to do as much At least then it's a 50/50 split between me and my partner. I just try to hit the shots I'm comfortable with, and the ones I do well.

I'm still pretty shaky at playing singles. I cannot even beging to explain how bad my forehand is. If I get a ball to go in with my forehand it's a miracle.
