NOw that Justine is "the hunted"...

Now that Justine has won her first slam, other players will be gunning to beat her the way they do all champions!! JHH had an excellent clay court season, but who will be the next person to beat her? I say Lin-c, particularly if they meet at Wimby

Lindsay is not a player who wants to beat someone just because she won a slam....

Justine isn't particularly hunted and shes not the best player in the world, Serena is. Everybody knows the French Open was whach and lame as usual and the champion was a cheater. So Serena should still be hunted. Its a new surface

not sure that Justine is really "the hunted", well, (except maybe by Serena looking for some revenge..) ;-)

but Justine has to prove that she is just as tough on all surfaces, not just clay. I think she can be just as tough on these other surfaces but she has not shown the confidence on these other surfaces as she has shown on clay.

I'm thinking maybe Justine will have an early exit at Wimby? maybe? (not hoping, just thinking.. there will be a lot of pressure on her and she will have been exposed to a lot more media and fan attention since RG than she has ever experienced before.. it will be interesting to see how she handles it.)

The top player is the "hunted" that is not justine, slam or no slam. Her scalp is less valuable than Serena, Venus, and possibly Kim's, especially outside of the clay courts.

"Hatred is the coward's revenge for being intimidated" - George Bernard Shaw

"And for the best of the teen-agers who followed her, and who occasionally referred to her as over the hill, Graf had a ready answer: against top-ranked Martina Hingis, Graf wound up 7-2. Graf's stirring 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 throttling of Hingis at the French Open final this June was perhaps the most emphatic parting shot the game has ever seen. "

Perhaps if JHH had been a little more gracious in her victory over Serena ("Everybody's happy about this except the Williamses," Mal Washington quoted her as saying) she wouldn't be a target, but as it is...

So you heard Mal saying this? Or have you heard it from someone that someone else heard that Mal said this?

If Justine said that, what does it mean?

Does she acknowledge he mind games, or do the Williamses feel trumped?

As for everyone being happy about it, TIME magazine, and Newsweek sure aren't celebrating. They've both made references to Serena's disappointment, and her undoing at the hands of the French. No praises for Justine.

Justine was always hunted just like everyone else. she is not being hunted like Venus and Serena are "as in players are getting stronger physically and mentally nowadays" to beat them. But they are looking out for her more than they did in the past. But I wouldn't say that much. Justine has showed honestly she is only a threat on clay. she is a clay court specialist although she has been to wimbledon semis two straight years, the only good player she really beat on the way was jennifer cap. hell she just won a slam, we all for sure had to agree she would be hunted more. Serena Venus Linsday Amelie will take Justine out in straight easy sets in wimbledon. Justine's backhand is weakness on the grass and hardcourts. Everyone plays it. As you have seen and noticed, they only talk about its beauty during the clay court season b/c that is the only time she gets to show it off, and the only "timing" she will ever get on any court to hit a clean backhand. Justine is going to have to learn to give up the slice on grass and hardcourts. cuz when the ball is coming at you that hard and fast on grass or hardcourts, it is far to difficult to play a slice. We all saw this when she plays Venus everytime at wimbledon and or on hardcourts. she just doesn't have time, and that is something those four are good at taking away from justine time. again she had all the time in the world on clay and id say she is going to be more hunted and looked out for on the clay than she will ever be on grass or hardcourts. i think people have more respect for her when it comes to the clay. but as for watching out for her, that is done and gone. the respect they had for justine during wimbledon and the rest of the hardcourts season last year, should be the same this year. she just really isn't that big a force on the grass or hardcourts when it comes to these top 4 players on grass and hardcourts. they have her number. hell id put Jennifer in there, but Justine is clearly far better than her on any surface right now, and plus the fact i believe justine has beaten jennifer cap on the grass before, was that in 2001?
