Kristie Brandi Nationalty PUR or USA?

Did she change nationalty. I notice when she won a tournament last week she has PUR-Peurto Rico. Did she do that so she can play FED Cup?
Whats the deal?

MY FAVS:SERENA WILLIAMS, VENUS WILLIAMS, Sloane Stephens, Madison Keys

Well, I know Kristina wants to play in the Olympics, so she switched to Puerto Rico, and will play Fed Cup for them so she can get into the Olympics.

At least, that's what I heard.

Puerto Ricans are automatically U.S. citizens from birth. So she can be what /whoever she wants at her convenience

I heard this once before and find it interesting. What is the history of this fact? Anyway, good luck to Brandi.

Well, Puerta Rico is a US commonwealth. I guess you can say, we own them, or whatever. So, anyone born in Puerto Rico is a US citizen. We just watch over their affairs and help them out.

Oh right, thanks that's interesting. We have a couple of "protectorates" like that in Aus but I don't think they play Fed Cup!

Sort of, but they have this crazy idea they're a real state . More like Norfolk Island, which I believe fields an international lawn bowls team but no tennis players that I know of!

Kristina's uncle, Andy Brandi, has replaced David DiLucia as Lisa's coach. He was the coach at University of Florida when Lisa was there.
