Best quality match from the QF's...

were Nadia vs Vera.

Got to watch it live from the 3rd set. The rallies were
incredible. There were 2 rallies that were about 22 strokes
per player. Outstanding. It was like watching winner, after
winner, after winner being hit. Best match all day.

Anybody else lucky enough to witness this?

I saw that match!! These are one of best rallies ever I seem!!

Inspiration is for amateurs

Faves: Mona Barthel / Samantha Stosur / Roberta Vinci

Ditto. Petrova showed optimum patience in those rallies, never going for an outright winner but never giving back weak shots. Vera won one of those however IIRC. Anyway, it was great just sitting on a couch just waiting for one of them to crack. It was almost tiring.

Yeah those rallies were awesome, Zvonareva in particular doing some stellar retrieving. However, I kind of got the feeling that the rallies were so long more because of the nerves of both players (scared to put the ball away, hoping for the error from there opponent) than anything else.

So from that point of view, the quality wasn't that great in that last set.

Of all the qfs (in terms of BOTH players giving quality) it probably was the best, along with Henin/Rubin. That wasn't a very exciting or emotional match, but they both played at similar levels for most of the match, and good attacking tennis.

Well they certainly salvaged something in the last game or two with some GREAT rallies.

But the first 6 games of that final set were all breaks and the play was pretty poor...the crowd didn't know whether to clap or not! Overall, a tough match for them both and I don't think it was that good (from what I saw) but yes they did play some amazing points....

The rallies in this match were often very long, but that does not always mean quality. I think Serena Williams' first set against Amelie was one of the best sets from a player I have seen, and although it was short, was more 'quality' than Nadia vs. Vera.

rallies were good....but most in the third set ended in errors up until the final few games

and the inability to hold serve was amazing

but yes it was the best match

apart from Zvonareva only hit 7 winners over 3 sets
