Surefire Way To Beat Serena -- Just 'Stick' It To Her

FEAR OF NEEDLES: Not many things seem to scare Serena Williams.

But the French Open defending champion, who reached the semifinals by beating Amelie Mauresmo 6-1, 6-2 on Tuesday, acknowledged one fear.

``I don't like blood testing, because I don't like needles and I cry,'' Williams said. ``I just can't stand needles. I have a phobia with needles, ever since I was younger.''

Blood testing in tennis was introduced at the Australian Open in January. Although Williams said she understands that testing is inevitable because of the prominence of drugs in some sports, she hardly welcomes the development.

``It's a sad point for me that it had to go this far,'' she said.
