ESPN SUCKS!: Let them know

We all know how much ESPN's coverage of RG sucks. Today was the last straw for me, because of broken promises about matches to be shown, so I've decided to complain to them. I urge all of you who have to suffer along to write them and complain. If enough people bitch, maybe something will happen.

Go here to fill out a complaint form: http://espn.go.com/sitetools/s/contact/espntv.html

This is my message, if you want something to go by. I'm sure most of you want to see more women's matches than they are showing, so let them know!! And remember, they also sucked up the rights to Wimbly this year.

"I am writing to complain about the coverage of Roland Garros, the French Open. Never before has tennis coverage been so atrocious, and with Wimbledon on the horizon, coverage has to get better.

My main complaints are with the fact that taped coverage is shown while live tennis is being played, and with the overabundance of Americans being shown. Time and time again, including today, taped coverage has been shown while live tennis was being played. ESPN chose to show the live Clement-Costa match followed by a TAPE of the beginning of the Kuerten-Robredo match while said match was going on live. Coverage ran over because of the use of the tape.

Also, matches were promised to be shown but have not been shown. Today, it was the Ferrero-Mantilla match; before, it was Lindsay Davenport. During today's coverage, it was promised that the Ferrero-Mantilla match, completed before coverage began, would be shown during the coverage today. It was not, and it apparently will not be shown tonight. Ferrero is supposed to be the favorite to win this tournament and yet he has had less airtime than anyone else. 4 rounds and no sign of him. He does have a large fan base in the States, believe it or not.

Americans are dominating the coverage. Yes, I understand this is the US and American players get priority over everyone else, but instead of showing live matches, you opt to show tapes of American matches. This is doing a serious disservice to your community.

Another big problem is the fact that you are showing the same match over and over. Agassi's second round victory got at least 3 plays on air, including being shown live. Capriati and Venus's third round matches were shown twice. And tonight, you have promised to show the same two matches you showed this morning, live or on tape delay.

If coverage does not get better by Wimbledon, you have lost at least one faithful viewer. Roland Garros is my favorite tournament and I will not stand by it being ruined because you have agendas to fill. Live scoring on the internet and NBC's expanded coverage will be more than enough for me; I might actually see someone with a Spanish or South American flag by their name then."

Can I just copy and paste yours and send that to them.

Overall, I agree with your e-mail. Ferrero who? All they show are hightlights of his match... pathetic. He was last years runner up and a fav. damn, Sundays coverage WAS pathetic. I did not want to see Vee lose three times and baldy winning three times. good lawd.. I turned off the tv and went out. Carry on...

My second one today
----------------------------------------
Let me just ask this question:
WOuld you ever show a Stanley Cup game(or any other hockey game for that matter) taped?
NO
Would you ever show an NBA playoff game(or for that that matter any regular season game) taped?
NO

Then stop showing Grand Slam Tennis matches taped period... showing live ones once in a while would be good. There should be no excuses for you lack of live coverage of tennis... the tennis coverage starts at 8am, with live matches going on, yet ESPN shows taped matches... heard of coming knowledge... yes it exists...get it.

We're going to see Justine's whole match

Nice, SuperDevil! I completely agree.

really? You don't have ESPN or ESPN2. That's where I've seen the highlights. They mainly just show the last point and him winning. But I bet they show him and Gonzo tomorrow, I mean why wouldn't they?

Um, I do have ESPN & ESPN2, hence my starting this thread in the first place. I suppose our definition of "highlights" is different; though last night they did show more than 5 points from his match. The only other match I've seen anything from his is first round match vs Kratochvil.

I don't know, they could very well show other matches instead of his. Costa-Robredo is almost a shoo-in and if it goes long I'm not holding my breath. They could probably cut to some doubles if they had to. And of course it would be fitting if the only match they showed of his in full was one he lost . . .

Anyone willing to lay odds on whether or not the matches will be shown live or taped? ESPN said before that they'd start with Ferrero-Gonzalez, but that's the second match on after Costa-Robredo. I have a feeling it will all be on tape again.
