Williams fans/Enthusiasts: Serena versus "Murderer's Row"

. . . .so my friend and I are at our Sunday night spot at the local strip club(I won't say his name, but his initials are King. Lindsay.), and as he is sitting back getting his lap dance, he looks over at me as I'm headed to the bar to get more $1's and says, "You know, against Mauresmo, Henin, and Clijsters, Serena has to take a walk down Murderer's Row. " That's an interesting concept. I can't think of a tougher road to a grand slam that anybody would have to take than Serena.
Here are her H2H's against them:
Serena WILLIAMS (USA) v Amelie MAURESMO (FRA)
1999 Paris Carpet (I) FR Serena WILLIAMS 6-2 3-6 7-6
2000 Hanover Hard (I) SF Serena WILLIAMS 6-2 6-7(4) 7-6(3)
2002 Sydney Hard (O) QF Serena WILLIAMS 6-4 7-6(6)
2002 Wimbledon Grass (O) SF Serena WILLIAMS 6-2 6-1
2003 Paris Carpet (I) FR Serena WILLIAMS 6-3 6-2
2003 Rome Clay (O) SF Amelie MAURESMO 6-1 5-7 3-6
Serena WILLIAMS (USA) leads 5 : 1

Serena WILLIAMS (USA) v Justine HENIN-HARDENNE (BEL)
2001 U.S. Open Hard (O) 16 Serena WILLIAMS 7-5 6-0
2001 W.T.A. Championships Hard (I) QF Serena WILLIAMS 6-3 7-6(5)
2002 Berlin Clay (O) FR Justine HENIN-HARDENNE 2-6 6-1 6-7(5)
2002 Rome Clay (O) FR Serena WILLIAMS 7-6(6) 6-4
2002 Leipzig Carpet (I) SF Serena WILLIAMS 6-4 6-2
2003 Charleston Clay (O) FR Justine HENIN-HARDENNE 3-6 4-6
Serena WILLIAMS (USA) leads 4 : 2

Serena WILLIAMS (USA) v Kim CLIJSTERS (BEL)
1999 US Open Hard (O) 32 Serena WILLIAMS 4-6 6-2 7-5
2000 Indian Wells Hard (O) 16 Serena WILLIAMS 6-4 6-4
2001 Indian Wells Hard (O) FR Serena WILLIAMS 4-6 6-4 6-2
2001 Miami Hard (O) 16 Serena WILLIAMS 6-0 6-2
2002 Tokyo Hard (O) FR Serena WILLIAMS 2-6 6-3 6-3
2002 W.T.A. Tour Championships Hard (I) FR Kim CLIJSTERS 5-7 3-6
2003 Hopman Cup 2003 Hard (I) R1 Serena WILLIAMS 7-5 6-3
2003 Australian Open Hard (O) SF Serena WILLIAMS 4-6 6-3 7-5
2003 Miami Hard (O) SF Serena WILLIAMS 6-4 6-2

How must Serena play each player? Is there anything she can do against each one(i.e MOMO'S psyche, Kim's second serve, Justine's short groundstrokes?) Or is this even too steep a battle for one of the most dominant forces in womens tennis ever?

LOL! If that's how it goes down, that's how it goes down.

The first step is tomorrow and frankly, if Serena can get through that hurdle... I see her with a check and a trophy real soon.

While I think she will do it.

If she does it will be her greatest title (other than the first).

To beat all comers (especially the way they are currently at top form) on the dirt, good stuff.

Go MAMA SMASH!!!

If your fave's coach isn't Richard Williams, that's just her first problem...

I was there when the ALL BLACKS won the World Cup in 2011!!!

Serena strolled down murderer's row to win her 1999 US open title so she's done it before.

Kart,
Do you think the '99 one was harder than this one?

I think it would be more impressive this time since this is clay.

serena won the us open IMO with a much tougher draw: seles, davenport, and then hingis... however, this is an extremely difficult draw for the number 1 player in the world on her worst surface. the three players she will be taking on (if all advance) are the three women who have beaten her recently (and even if chanda gets through henin, she has also 'recently' beaten serena). i will be very very impressed if/when she does this. especially since this is her "worst" surface and it is arguably the best surface of her future opponents.

Well, in '99 she was facing all former Slam champions (wasn't LD the defending champ that year), so that must have been pretty difficult.

Then again, this year she will/could be facing the three best clay courters in the business. 2 of the three having defeated her in their last meetings. Also, like others say, on her worst surface. Throw in a partisan French crowd, and she's got her hands full.

I think the first one would always be the hardest because its something you've never done before. You have no experience to fall back on. Its just you and most likely someone who has already won a grandslam playing each other to the last point. Serena pulled a mean feat winning in 99 and she can do it again.

I think with all things considered, this will be the toughest slam win for her. Wimby and USO last year were her easiest wins.

LOL!! Muderers row. I don't think I've ever seen a #1 player have a tougher 2nd week in a long time. This is good though. She will have to play well to get past all these three.

I do think Justine is her biggest task on this surface. I don't know what will happen, but I'm hoping Rena can pull through these matches. She will have it tough because she will have to play three tough players in a row.

Harloo,
An healthy Mauresmo might be even tougher than JHH, gamewise.
