Justine BEATS Patty In Tough Match

6-3, 2-6, 6-2

Her match was sloppier than Serena's and IMO, if Chanda beats Petra Mandula later today, she has a shot at an upset.

Patty played very well but and justine just lost a little concentration in the second. Afterwards she won the 3rd very convincing. These tight matches usually help justine for the rest of the tournament, they give her a lot of confidence.
Come Justine, we believe in you!!

JUSTINE H-H: 39 WTA-titles and counting...!

Good luck to K-lina Sprem, Venus, Tati Golovin, Daniela, and Lena D

I think Patty's game does trouble Justine.....
I remember she actually put up a tough chanllenge against Justine in US Open 2001 3rd round...

Anyway, its great to see Justine through to the next round after a tough match... She will be more focus in the QF against either Chanda or Petra!!!

i know people are going to write the second down to justine losing concentration, but you have to accept the fact that patty raised her game and shocked henin. henin rose a bit in the third, but patty threw it away, losing games she had leads in on four occassions and giving away whole games with unforceed errors. IMO justine is lucky that this match is not still going.

totally agree, think justine played very well in the first set, some beautiful winners, but in the second, patty made less UFE's, kept playing really deep, and justine couldn't handle it very well.
also, justine might be happy with the slow start of patty in the third, 5-6 UFE's in a row

But of course, i'm very happy justine hold on and won it at the end

Well Switz Patty did play very well in the second and get some doubts in Justine head! Third set is won because of the regularity of Justine.
First set was a great level but Justine was the better one in there

Roland Garros '03,'05,'06,'07
US Open '03,'07 / Australian Open '04
Olympic Gold '04 /
YEC Madrid '06,'07
41 titles
