Serena BEATS Ai In Tough Match

7-5, 6-3

It was sloppy, but she won in straight sets. Now she will face Magui or Amelie.

well, good for serena. Got her first test out of the way. Too bad Sugiyama lost her serve at 3-4. she had a gamepoint. Just shows that even if you have one lapse against Serena, it just might cost you the match.

if Ai can do this then serena will really have to watch out for mauresmo and henin. but looking at mauresmo's problems at RG she may even get beaten by serna in the 4th round i think it could be a very tough match for mauresmo.

Go the aussies! stosur!!!
and good luck russians: dementieva, safina, kirilenko, sharapova, kuznetsova, bovina, zvonareva, dushevina.

also good luck to: azarenka, lucic, sprem, vakulenko, vaidisova, safarova, ivanovic, groenefeld, mirza, krajicek, kvitkova, larcher de brito, lisicki.

I haven't seen the match yet, but the scores told me that Ai really put up some great effort to play against Serena!!!

Keep it up, Ai!!!

Since she is the last Frenchwoman in the draw and all hopes are on her, she will be feeling the pressure and I thnk Magui will give her a tough match. BTW, after Justine's performance today, she'd better hope if Chanda wins today, that she plays her like she play Laura Granville on Friday because if Chanda comes out with a great game, Justine might be in trouble.

Ai played a fun match just what I was
expecting from her. She seemed to be quicker
on clay than Serena today. The DF's and duff
serves were the thorn for Ai today. It was
a competative, and spirited match.

So- WIliams fans or should I address this to
anti Williams fans...why did Serena exchange
net kisses after the match to Ai, and seem to
avoid other opponents? LOL. Was she just
trying to su*k up to the French crowd which
included Julie Halard Decugis and her husband
cheering for Ai in her VIP box? Was Serena
trying to su*k up to her sponsor Puma by
showing a friendly gesture? Was Serena
trying to su*k up to her Japanese fan base
which she acquire during her visits to the
country for events?

I think Ai's just a nice person; and Serena thought it
was a fun match which gave her one heck of
a sprinting work out- no hard feelings.

maybe, because Ai is one of the few players who have never dissed her, Venus, or her family. That would also explain why she exchanged net kisses with Kim. Kim has always said good things about her.

Wouldn't it be hard to pretend or put on a good face with someone who have said bad things about you in the press or to others?

I thought it was a nice sporting gesture.
It kind of threw me off since alot of people
in this forum are making the lack of net
cheek kissing by Serena such an issue. lol.

Awww so I missed seeing Julie HD then???

The very rare glimpses I get of Julie cheering for Ai are all I see of the great one these days.
