Sorry VENUS, (and everyone else) but it looks like SERENA will win the RG title

As much as I would like to see my #1 fave, VENUS, win the Roland Garros singles title, it looks like my #2 fave, SERENA, is just to ready, willing and able to beat her sister and anyone else who gets in her way at this year's event.

SERENA'S absolute demolishing of Schett sent a message that was received by every single competitor in the tournament and that is SERENA is in "A" physical and mental condition and barring and act of nature, will win this title in Paris.

VENUS, get healthy and prepare yourself for Wimbledon and the U.S. Open because the RG title is already taken.

However, for the rest of the field, there is still a competition for the runner up title.

wow... Tee, I'm surprised!

I will say that Serena had so many doubters. She was serious about winning. I think that her losses really motivated her to do well in RG. People forget that Hingis was #1 and undefeated when she rolled through RG to the final and she lost. It's best for Serena to lose at lesser tournaments than at a grand slam.

Grand slam is history. No one will remember who won Sarasota or even Rome but they will remember who won a grand slam. This is what the Williamses are after. They want a permanent place in history and everything else they get is just bonus.

I was more confident in Serena's ability to defend than I was Venus' ability to win it simply because of her injury and her lack of play. I'm confident she'll make the semi's if not the final. But if I had a bet going, all of my money would go to Serena on winning the title.

I was truly concerned with that "defining moment" shot....I thought she's gonna twist her ankles....be careful my Queen!!!!!

Sure looks like Serena will defend. Venus would have to step it up to US Open 2001 type gear to win. The sad things is that in 2002 and early 2003 Venus' game was technically better than 2001, she just lost some of her fight, but at some point she will get sick of losing. Hey, it took Serena two and a half years to decide she didn't want to lose.

Well, today I would say Serena is going to win it. Venus played horrible tennis vs Evie, and Henin, Clijsters, Capriati played very well but still not THAT well as Serena did.

I still hope Venus raise her level, her 1st serve %, less DF, less long shots...

Come on Venus, go for it!!!

SERENA is my fave for the title. Justine is not far behind and then Jenn/Amelie/Kim are still neck and neck but have not totally hit their stride.

Yes she was good in one match, but i've seen times when Serena was in great form in one match then played bad in her next match. She needs to keep up her level throughout the tournament, preferably save her best for playing the Belgians and not someone like Schett. But theres no doubt she can keep this up, and shes my pick for the title, with Justine 2nd, Kim 3rd and Venus 4th, considering their current form.

Of course, after that 3rd round match of VENUS', I hope that I am wrong about my prediction and that the goddess comes through with an RG win.
