Chanda is really ESPN's darling..

First, on Wednesday they switch from her match to the game of Agassi match when she is at 6:6 in a tiebreak(!!!) against Cara. Now they show Harkleroad intead of her third set..

"..just knowing that as long as i choose life, there is hope."

Well, it's better than watching the women's version of the second coming of Andy Roddick. The orgasming going on in the booth over Ashley Harkleroad is about to reach Agassi-like proportions.

Hehe. I am interested in seeing Harkleroad though. I've rarely seen her play, and I think this is good because so many people must be curious about her. I know I have been. Plus, she is stereotypically "hot." I am not shocked.

I'm gald someone else has the same complaint about the ESPN coverage as I do. I like Agassi and everything, but the ass kissing he is getting from the commentators is making me sick. I am not surprised that Chanda's coverage was cut off due to Ashley Harkelroad. In yesterday's NY Daily news, they mentioned Agassi's match and hers, but nothing on any of the other Americans who won.

Oh, I'm not shocked that she's the match of the day, I just find it incredibly annoying. Pam and MJ are not only showering praise on her, they are also taking cuts at Magui. Thank God they never claimed to not be baised

Well, no offense, but Ashley upset a big player in a tough--entertaining match. She just happens to be American and pretty, so she's gonna get extra attention, more than Flavio Saretta, and to me that's understandable and okay. She's young, talented, and pretty by the typical standards of that. I want to see her, and I am not shocked they are showing her. They are shallow like that. LOL And it's the US of A--I don't think there's anything wrong with the praising of a US player in their own country, especially with the kind of results they've had in such a short time, as such a newbie.

But I do agree about the shots at Magui. It seemed more like Mary defended her, but Pam basically called her fat. They saved themselves by talking about how hard she works out, but that was unnecessary and rude.

The only players they don't shower praise on (besides non-Americans) are the Williams sisters. Have their names come up yet because they usually do.

They are because she has a match point and Ashley is down 3-0 in the second set.

Chanda doesn't have match point anymore; she won 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Let me clarify. Harkleroad herself doesn't bother me; in fact, I am quite impressed by her play thus far. But the media machine is having a field day, and that's what annoys me. Do we really need to see a puff piece about her and everyone mispronouncing her last name when we could be seeing an upset-in-the-making?

Harkleroad has been hyped since she was 14 years old and now that she's broken through the media has snapped onto her like they did with Roddick. After sitting through a double bagel by Serena and the worst ass-kissing Agassi match I've ever witnessed, I'm just a little peeved.

I was surprised at myself for feeling the same way. Generally, I'm just happy to see televised tennis. But, I think I started feeling cheated yesterday when we saw NONE of Blake's match from Tuesday or Wednesday. Then ESPN started the coverage today telling us about a close four setter, but, refusing to show more than two rallies from it. I enjoy seeing Serena give an opponent a beat down when I can see some good tennis. But, Babsi missed a bucket load of chances to get on the board. Eventhough Justine won 6-1,6-1, I think her match would have been more entertaining to watch.

Chanda has always gotten short shrift from the media. Being the number 8 seed in this major, an American, and playing another American, she and Granville deserved better coverage. I also hear that Granville has really improved. I wanted to see how she won the first set.

Having written all of that, I have to write that I'm still grateful The Tennis Channel doesn't have exclusive rights to this coverage.

sigh
it never quite works out the way we want it..

but although tennis is an international sport, espn/2 is in the USA and Agassi is the only us man left in the draw. plus he's a huge ratings draw. much more so than Chanda, I'm afraid.

of course, harkelroad was giving them a tough choice, but now she's out and you'll see a lot more of the agassi show..

As much as I hate ESPN, I don't think anyone will ever be satisfied with their coverage or commentators...

I didn't hear any cut shots MJF and Pammie took at Magui. In fact, they quite praised her.
