I think it was her Dad's idea actually, not hers! - it had something to with lower taxes. Maybe he just said it to scare the Belgian tax people, or maybe theya re checking out other places since Aus hardly has low taxes compared to most places other than Belgium!!

I'm sure the question is going to be one of those "Pop-Up Interview" questions whenever they get a dead-beat reporter sent to cover a press conference. We won't see her being Aussie until after she has retired IMO. As soon as Lleyton drops a few rankings they won't even think of asking her again, it's just all sensationalism (of course not saying that we wouldn't love her here )

****** Dasha Sam, Jarka, Casey, Serena , then the guys with nice asses on the ATP, followed by other Aussies, bit of a gap...then Venus.....bit of a bum scratch...then will watch Lisiki or Radwanksa...gap...everyone else (or sleep) ******Pending membership for the Ash Barty Return Band Wagon*****

More precisely, it was Australia's idea, and Lei gave it a bit of lip service in order to get some leverage regarding the high level of Kim's taxes in Belgium.

You have to answer for Santino, Carlo.

I didn't know that. The first I heard of it was Lei's comments - there was certainly nothing public about here in Aus, in fact there were vehement denials that they's ever do a tax deal with anyone, ever! - however it wouldn't surprise me one bit if there was some behind the scenes stuff going on!

The idea wasn't doing a tax deal with Australia. The idea was using the threat of Australia's lower tax rate to do a tax deal with Belgium. That may or may not have occurred.
