Well I applied for the rankings and operations coordinator position for the WTA in Florida and didn't get a call back.

I would have had so many other ideas regarding statistics and for the website in general.

But I think they filled the position before I applied. It was only posted for 2 weeks.

Our lunchtime siesta is almost over so it's time to head back to work but, before I leave, let me offer my sympathy for your not getting the position you wanted. I'm not surprised, though....

Stacy Allaster: Hey, it looks like we have an excellent candidate for the rankings and operations co-ordinator position...a gal named Inger with a superb education and background
Jethro Allaster(Stacy's barely-literate, redneck nephew--a porn-mag addict and "manager" of the WTA website) :I don' like all dem smarty-pants people workin' 'round here. Dey git me feelin' stupid
Stacy: Yes, I suppose you're right. I should just hire the usual sheep-like ass-kisser who works for me

Speaking of credibility, I find it inconceivable that Hingis, back in 2008(under Larry Scott's watch, mind you), was the last WTA player who tested positive for drugs. Even a sport full of trappist monks wouldn't be THAT clean. I wonder what favors Stacy asks for from the players in return for squelching a positive test. You can be damned sure that none of the WTA cover girls will EVER get suspended, no matter how many PEDs they use or how much coke they snort

Refer back to the last paragraph from post #15: It'd be a miracle if we got any rankings this week b/c that would be the WTA's way of confessing their pathetic incompetence. Like the Vatican or a state-run news agency, they're too arrogant to admit their multitude of screw-ups. They'll just pretend nothing happened and wait 'til next week....that is, IF they can get their act together by THEN.

Re: Why have WTA rankings disappeared???

OK - there are new rankings. At the very least you can see the Top 100 singles and doubles on the May 5th Notes and Netcords which can be found here: http://www.wtatennis.com/SEWTATour-A.../2014/may5.pdf

You have to scroll past the first 5-6 illegible pages before you get to them

And yes - that's a perfect example of how terrible the WTA website and the people who run it are. In addition to the non-intuitive design and the aforementioned inability to update the rankings anywhere on the site, they are routinely behind in updating their draws during tournaments. It's the most pathetic website for a large professional sporting organization going, and has been since their "upgrade" which made it ten times worse than it was.

But have no fear - Carla won a title, and she did receive 280 ranking points for it.

Re: Why have WTA rankings disappeared???

Most likely it happened because the commercial arm of WTA vetoed the update from taking place (they didn't want the face of last week's only top mover in the rankings to be a front page news item on monday

Hats off to you for managing to wade through that quagmire to gain some missing info.

I'd hate to wander into the inner mind of the WTA bosses for fear of the dark, vast nothingness I'd find there...but, if only to take a stab at what's there---aside from intense greed for profit, no matter WHAT pandering depths they'd need to stoop to---I'd say that they just don't give a damn about any working-class fans like other sports do. I suppose that there are so many soft, idle, limp-wristed rich folk buying the expensive tickets and packages(the kind of folk who have VERY little affinity for hard work) that the WTA doesn't care about enabling a bunch of quitters and tankers(excluding that small cadre of self-motivated players, of course). If the fans don't complain about disinterested or barely-motivated players, then why should the WTA worry...as long as enough money keeps rolling in? That apathy towards normal, everyday fans clearly extends to the website as well.

My time here is done. The original thread title had sort of a limited shelf life, anyway, so I'm going to unsuscribe from the thread now. But, before doing that, I've already gone back and changed the original thread name so that other TF posters can comment on the immense abundance of FUTURE f--k-ups that are destined to occur on the WTA website. Thanks, everyone, for the input...with a special thanks to 'Hurley' for the brilliant detective work. Nos vemos

As someone who mostly uses their site to grab PDFs of draws and OOPs, I find this really annoying. Still waiting for them to upload updated draws for the Portugal Open...

Re: Disappearing Rankings...and OTHER tales from the WTA website's abyss of incompete

Is this real shocking though?

They have overhauled the whole website and the only improvement is that the H2H mask now recognizes Na Li.

I am not a fan of the direction a lot of Maria threads have taken over the last 12 months.
The undertone is very disappointing, aggressive and the comments are sometimes rude to a player just trying to earn a living, playing her hardest and having a good amount of success given her god given, natural talents.
You made the list: NEW President Bouchard, Cibulkova, Mladenovic, Wozniacki, Kerber, Cornet, Watson, Broady.
Please note this is a signature about Tatjana Maria

I suspect that the WTA doesn't have such a working-class fanbase(more of a soft, idle, wealthy one) ; therefore, Allaster & crew don't feel any obligations or concerns about the overall quality of the product......as long as enough money keeps rolling in
it was only for the pre-season games if I recall.
plus most of the fanbase reacted in rage due to shitty beer induced lack of sensibility.

i'd equate this WTA flub more to the stat keepers trying to take Peyton's record from him for last season after the fact.

TT Singles: 2014 SF: Bogota, New Braunfels. 2013 F: Las Vegas, SF: Orlando, Sibenik.
TT Doubles: 2014 W: Trnava w PinkTape. 2013 W: St Martin, Orlando, Sibenik, Charlottesville, Nantes-YEC all w Soliloque; Lexington w DJDVD.

No, those are not correct. Look at TBE live rankings and they are different.
