Probably a wise decision by justine so close to RG. Even a minor problem is a good reason to withdrew. Hopefully it's nothing serious!

Wow, the highest ranked player Kim will have to face before the finals is Chanda Rubin!

Ah very smart No riscs She has made her point already...she's the top clay court player. A break won't do any harm before her beloved RG

WTF?!?! Schnyder?! the should do the same thing Berlin did!!!

the top half already had all the good players in it bar kim.....now the bottom half has just got lighter while a Monica Jen match will only be a few matches into the tourney!

Yeah! You go Justine! I thought you were stupid playing week in week out before RG. That shows she has a head!

That seems weird... why would Patty get a first round bye when all the 9-16 seeds don't? It would be more logical for Jelena (who's seeded 9) to take Justine's place in the draw as well as the first round bye... or perhaps I'm missing something here

It's not a fair draw now
Why didn't they plan to do as they did in Berlin: to do some changes in the draw. It's not balanced : Serena,Jelena, Amelie, Mauresmo, Capriati and Monica on the first half, and on the second, Kim and Chanda, who didn't give some solids indications on clay this year.
Lucky draw for Kim, pfff

Well, according the TBE, you can only make drastic changes like that before 4 PM, but Justine withdrew after 4 PM, so only minor changes can be made.

If she withdrew before 4 PM, Jennifer would have taken Justine's spot, Jelena would have taken Jennifer's, and Patty would have taken Jelena's.

I dunno, I guess some stupid rule prevented them from doing that.

I wish kim would do the same well at least in doubles!

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night
