A Question About Ranking points..

I am aware that ranking points are only good for 52 weeks. But in the case of slam events (or Miami, IW )that span a 2-week period, what would happen if the 52nd week fall at the end of the 1st week of a 2-week event? When would the points come off? At the end of the 52nd week or at the end of the 2-week tournament? I know it sound somewhat confusing but it really isn't. I know that tournaments are not always played on the same calander dates each year, which is what promted the question. And in the case of the #1 ranked player, if the points come off (which would knock them down to #2) at the end of the 53rd week, does that mean that s/he gets and additional week at #1?

Thoughts anyone?

i didnt understand any of that

but i do know is that the points come off in week by week rather than tournament by tournament.
for instance, amelia island points came off at charleston, and charleston points came off at amelia island this year, becuase they switched weeks this year.

Dunno if that is what you wanted hear or not

In 2-week events, points are added on after the event has finished. Points aren't added on after week 1.
So after 52 weeks, the amount earned for the 2-week event is taken off.
Ranking points aren't updated for 2-week events until the event has finished.

For eg, Seles got 500 points for AusOpen 2002. This is added on after the AusOpen finished. After AusOpen 2003, 500 points will be deducted. So techinically, it is still 52-weeks.

Also, 2-week events are often held in the same weeks every year.
